Im not sure how many of you have actually tried to administrate or otherwise code/balance a Mud, or any other RPG, but I think the amount of nagging here is getting excessive. I have spent a lot of time aiding with the storytelling and balance of several non MUD RPGs its not as easy as some of you may think.

Posting bugs, ideas for improvements, or otherwise is a good idea. Im sure that our benifactors enjoy the chance to figure out how to improve the game. However, you cannot expect that they can fix every gosh damn thing at once. It's starting to get very annoying when all you see on the forums is nerf this, boost that, non stop complaints, very few compliments.

It may be just me, but it seems that a few of the Divine are starting to get a little frustrated with this general mindset. Let them get to the bugs/changes when they can. I am no stranger to coding, and when it comes to certain features that are taken for granted in most languages, Rapture trades that up for pure speed; so every single one of these changes likely takes several hours of coding, testing and re-coding, on top of trying to make sure it balances with the entire game.

Balance is not easy, as many of you realize. You trade making one side happy, while pissing the other off. So make your suggestions, discuss them, but dont hemmorage when the suggestion or bug fix isnt implemented right when YOU want it. Im sure Im no the only one getting sick and tired of the non stop bitching and whining over every little detail that anyone can think of. If you cant be patient like everyone else, then take your ball and go home, or just perhaps... grow up.

While it may seem excessive, the number of people doing it is not. It appears to me that 90% of the nagging comes from a small percentage of actual forum users. Perhaps there is a belief by some that the more repetative you are, the more convincing your points become? tongue.gif

Note: there is a block-list feature on this forum. I've heard from other mortals that they frequently block the aforementioned types of users. Perhaps utilizing this feature will make the forums more enjoyable and, more importantly, more productive once you have determined which posters give constructive criticisms and which ones do not.

Bricriu and I are screwed...

Hey, now! I'm repetitive, but we weren't getting really bitchy over in Catacombs, were we? And I do try to add helpful ideas while I complain, too. biggrin.gif
Raan2005-02-14 22:07:37
Nah... I never have had too much of a problem with your posts... Its more a select... two or three who spam the forums with endless nag marathons.

I mainly get annoyed by those who state a variation of the same argument post after post and then get annoyed when it's not taken seriously or act suprised when someone tells them enough.
Unknown2005-02-14 22:10:44
For the record, I never repeat the exact same point. There is often overlap between seperate issues but only in response to other points.

And I -never- nag.

Edit: Hah! I didn't even read KidChex's post before I posted this.

Yeah, thats the majority of it. How many censor.gif topics on Karma do we need? Or Spores? Or Lich... i mean one or two copied topics... yeah but this is rediculous.

Yes, Im spoiled. Been a member of the MSNBC news forums for so many years, and they have probably the BEST moderators in exsistance.

Oh thank you for pointing that out. I think it would make reading these forums much more enjoyable! I was starting to just get annoyed and thinking I better stop reading them. glare.gif

I believe I'll be using that soon. It'd be nice to get rid of censor.gif (who seems to make a new thread anytime anything at all irritates him). Make a single thread, and bitch in that. Better yet, make that thread in 'Idiots'.

It occured to me that there is an irony to this board. Those that post the most are more likely to get blocked by other players. Thus the amount you get read here could be inversely proportional to how much you post!
Shiri2005-02-15 01:37:49
...ehhh, I wonder how big a proportion of the boards the two player mods are blocked by then. sleep.gif
