Am I the only one who sees a discrepency in strength levels here? dry.gif

The only way I can see this becoming balanced is Trill gaining specialization when Hallifax comes out, since the Trill's regeneration, though stronger, is less innately useful then a forest-dwellers forest regeneration. Even with that, the Trill are behind for a great deal of time.

I will remind peoppel... Racial stats are there to help keep the population about what the history says the population should be.

Try again, big bear, I didn't follow you.

People.
Anarias2005-02-15 09:41:38
I don't think its entirely fair to compare races that don't have specializations to races that do.

And as far as Daganev's comment goes, races have the stats they do so that Magnagora isn't overrun with people who want to have Elfen stats, or Merian Serenwilders and what not. Close Daganev?

Even without the specialization, Elfen are better. The specialization just makes the situation worse.

And the fact remains that a large number of the races are rare to the point of extinction. It is sort of sad, but when balances between races are significant enough to overpower the 'role playing' aspect of a particular race, you can't expect too many people to maintain.

Tae'dae, Igasho, Taurians and Loboshigaru off the top of my head seem very, very rare. This is on top of races like Trill and Lucidian that are rare now, but at least have potential when later specializations come out. The first four aren't likely to get any specializations, and as they are balanced, few people are finding them worthwhile.

I'm going back to the 'figure out how to roleplay Olan becoming Viscanti or Aslaran' window on my computer now tongue.gif

Most of the Trill are locked away in Hallifax. Release Hallifax, Trill/Lucidians get a specialization there, people start choosing Trill, player population of Trill goes up, and now accurately reflects the amount of Trill there should be, since they were finally all released from time. Duh.

Edit: And oh, there are lots of Faelings, there should be about that many faelings, yet they are utterly horrible from an OOC perspective on stats. They have the worst stats/bonuses/negatives. Help out the poor faelings! Remove the experience negative, give them an influencing bonus to experience.. gah!
Daganev2005-02-15 11:05:27
Its easy to RP your tae'dae becoming viscanti. Just be a Viscanti with Tae'dae like features.

And yes Anarias, you've got the basic idea.

Lobo, taurian, tae'dae etc all say in thier help scroll and histories that there are few of them around. And Lo and behold... there are few of them around.
Shiri2005-02-15 13:08:02
At least Loboshigaru aren't -horribly- underpowered, though. (Trill I can deal with because they will get their strength later, so don't worry.) But it just sucks that Dracnari, say, who are meant to be stuck in time, are SO MUCH better than Furrikini or Faeling, and there's a whole blinkin' village of us. (And a load of Faelings in the commune proper.) If the idea is to discourage people from picking them to even out the numbers, fair enough, but do they have to screw over the fighting in the first place? They don't have to be -quite- as good as Viscanti/Merian/Elfen, but it's just ridiculous as is...really.

(Yes, I am bitter. Fear my 9 strength and 12 intelligence. ...and 11 constitution.)
Ialie2005-02-15 13:13:40
It would be neat if faelings and furriken got exp bonus for influencing. *inno*

Faelings' uber cuteness makes up for all the other bad points happy.gif
Desdemona2005-02-16 01:56:16
*peer* Do I hear an anti-Taurian conspiracy going on? Kidding. Well, where does it say that there are supposed to be few taurians on land? In history, if I gather right, they were amassed by huge numbers even greater than of the times of the Stampede Massacre. In the Help Taurian, it only implies how dangerous Taurians are on groups (too bad alone we aren't sad.gif )... and how people would prevent Taurians gather in large groups. Imo, that would be like implying that you could actually expect seeing bunch of Taurians scattered (or being rogue but rogue can be quite difficult for some of us (me)).

Regarding Trills... I am pretty sure they will get a great Statplus specialization when Hallifax return, I think Trills were the muscle of Hallifax so probably a guardian or mage specialization would help them out. I especially consider that any flying race would probably be the best benefitted in Aerial Magic.

Though, I must say... Trills being able to regen on the Air and at least +1 Int is a great improvement from what Atavians were. dry.gif Though Trills probably should have a bit more difference to have them less similar to humans. +1 strength?

Now I see what happened... Trills have +1 Int +1 Char, instead of the 12 cont `tavians had... but notice that they have their Dex intact instead of the lame -1 Dex `tavians had compared to humans. Funny! The divines played around with the `tavian stats to make them better. But maybe Trill should have 11 Cont, they sure are more resistant than wimpy human! tongue.gif
