Outguild

Okay, it's absurd that secretaries can't outguild. Secretaries in all the other IRE games could, and it doesn't make sense that we can't here. If someone's being a troublemaker, we should not have to wait around for a GM/Admin/Champion/ex-leader to outguild them, because often, those people aren't around, and the annoying people can continue to make nuisances of themselves. It's happened before in the Aquamancers, and we're boosting our secretaries up to GR15 so that we can outguild, but it seems like an unnecessary amount of nuisance.

Most secretaries I know are horrible, horrible people.

I'll name no names. (No, none of the ur'Guard are ones)

Judging from my experience in Achaea (haven't paid enough attention to guild here):

If the Sent secretaries outguilded someone without a damn good reason, there'd be hell to pay, and I know of no one in the guild who'd abuse it. In all my time there, 99% of outguilds were simply novices who failed the interview. I'm not sure where you're all getting the assumption corrupt secretaries are going to abuse outguilding if they have it.

Indeed. And you don't have to worry about secretaries outguilding other secretaries or stuff like that, because if your secretaries are at GR10, then they can only be outguilded by the GM, Admin, or Champion.

I don't like the idea of a Secretarie having that much power. Maybe they should have the ability to put Guild Members on probation though, which would strip their privs and such for a time until a higher Guild Member can decide over the situation.

Nope, secretaries shouldnt have the automatic power to outguild. Being a secretary I see what goes on at the secretarial level and its not pretty. Least in that particular guild which shall remain anon to protect the good secs.

Secs have the ability to prevent people from advancing in GR and if given the ability to outguild then like in Achaea all the guilds will eventually be little clubs where only the secretaries are the real members and they can just throw people out for any idiot reason with no oversight from the GM to maintain the club.

Secretaries are mini-tyrants who from what Ive seen mostly (but not always, there are some really good secs that I work with) want others to just shut up and do anything they say or get whacked with a disfavour or outguilding if allowed. Its the major reason people never step down from a sec position on the other IRE games because the little despots dont want to give up their power over others, they could care less about the position they just want the power to outguild.

And it really rubs players the wrong way when they have been playing forever and in a couple years a new player gets into a secretary position who doesnt like them and suddenly the long time player can be outguilded over a personality conflict. Ive seen that happen too many times for it to be funny. Thats just garbage. And if secs could outguild as soon as they were made one in lusternia it would happen all the time.

I love the fact that the secretaries cant stop you from learning your skills unlike the other ire games and just have to sit there and actually let you play the game. Which was another reason I dropped out of achaea, Im in college and couldnt stand the fact that little Johnny 12 year old (or his european counterpart, little Gunter 12 year old) could actually affect my char on that level with no divine barriers to their guild powers yet the whole game was centered around the guild so there was NO escape from their vile little chocolate covered fingers or their endless I WUV You! comments.

Wooohooo!, I made level 100!, trans 10 skills, top ranked fighter.....but little Johnny whos been playing for two weeks and got his sec position from nepotism doesnt like you so you get outguilded and lose your guild skills and are forced to go buy new ones. blink.gif Thank you, no.

Secretaries, as well as city leaders for that matter, in lusternia are safely out of the daily lives of most players and you can pretty much ignore their more idiotic ideas and grand schemes without being hampered in your game play and I love that about the game. In lusternia you have to actually BE a leader to get people to follow you.

If gr15 allows you to outguild and thats what your guild has to do to allow it then there isnt any point in changing the overall rules to blanket allow all secretaries to outguild as you already have a loophole to use if thats the way you want to go.
