Ackleberry

Back to Common Grounds.

From the beginning of Lusternia, actually before the beginning of Lusternia when we all sat around the MSN group waiting and posting wild stories, I have set my sights on the Ackleberry Forest. I wrote up a history of the family I had my sights on and got it Divinely approved (don't remind me about that process), but really that was only the first step in the plans. Before I go any further I just want to say that no I am not planning on pulling a Visaeris in Glom thing, and I do realize that this process could take even longer than Hallifax and Gaudi will, but I am patient.

Since I got my family name approved and 'found out about my family roots' in Lusternia I have spent a lot of time on researching the old Ackleberry Forest, and a lot of that was a big secret to many that didn't know me. My concern was that I would have a whole bunch of people with no real interest in such a forest other than 'Its new and sounds cool and I can rule the world if I help start it'. This has been my experience with every new MUD and everything new IN a mud, especially IRE ones.

I do not see Ackleberry as being one for such disorder a situation like that would cause, and no one wants another Serenwilde (at least in the beginning of the Serenwilde commune). So I wrote up this post asking only serious people interested in researching into and perhaps one day restoring the Ackleberry Forest in this realm and carrying on the simple life in simpler times before all the corruption and taint. I would like to see who is genuinely interested in the Ackleberry, (dont be scared if I ask you a few questions about it) and maybe start up a clan, depending on how it goes.

I do repeat this is nothing like Glom, the process could take 10s of years and you need not ask if you cannot stand the wait.

Thank you for the time,
Hayden Gladheart

Laneth holds an interest in Ackleberry and would like to know a bit more.
Elryn2005-02-23 01:37:55
Wow, that is a wonderful idea! (Not that Elryn would be interested... he loves the magic and mystical serenwilde too much... but I'd love to have Ackleberry as another commune and hopefully as an enemy!)

What are your thoughts on what sort of commune it would be?
Ialie2005-02-23 01:43:54
Ialie would interested.
Unknown2005-02-23 01:45:00
All I can say right now is that I would like the Ackleberry to be more of a commune, although obviously a lot of things in the world require a city's assistance, the Ackleberry could mostly keep to nature and old ideals. As I have no idea if and when the Ackleberry will get this chance and have had only a couple discussions with certain Divine, I really have nothing but a whole bunch of ideas and little historic facts that I have been working with so far. If there was more of a backing perhaps more history would resurface in todays world telling us of life in the old days of the Ackleberry forest, the teachings of Strongleaf brought down through the druidic archetype, who knows since it housed Mother Lake, instead of Moondancers or 'Nightstalkers' in glom, Waterwalkers?? It has endless posibilities as it is all 'up in the air'.

As a side note this doesn't just mean people from the Serenwilde who perhaps want a different life, I encourage everyone who would be interested to post or tell me about it, to get a general idea of interest. Try not to base the life it would be as if you were living the Serenwilde lifestyle, that is what I am trying to avoid, a copy of the Seren.

As I said to a few people while mapping... Ackelberry is gone as is the forest that once was in the desert. This is obvious by any simple study of the Ethereal plane and seeing that there is no room for a ackelberry without another section to even out the structure *nod me*

I'm pretty sure Ethereal Ackleberry would return when the material one does. And who says it has to be on just one side of Faethorn? whistling.gif
Jasper2005-02-23 02:53:51
You do have a good plan, I would join if Jasper wasn't related to Elryn, and didn't harbor a special liking to Gloriana. Ah well, I wish you luck on your little...quest?
Unknown2005-02-23 02:54:59
Something cannot exist because it would make the straight up and down structure of the ethereal plane off? What if the ethereal was more of a cross shape in the past? Maps hardly prove anything relative.
Daganev2005-02-23 03:02:16
Exactly! it was a cross shape.
Thats why the desert exist there. The other day time like spirit got so hot it turned everything into a desert!

And the aesthetic structure of a map means EVERYTHING! Why do you think China was so intent on capturing Manchuria? Without Manchuria the Chicken that is China wouldn't have its gullet and beak.

Guido would be interested, but perhaps not interested in the ways you're looking for. If he were to become involved it would be to either make sure future commune serves his purposes, or at least doesn't go againt them, and to try and spread his influence through the participants.

Guido's purposes are purely manipulative at best. If there's something going on, he wants in: to gain control of advantageous situations and sabotage ones that will interfere with his goals. He understands that friends are the most valuable resource in the Basin, and hoards them greedily.

Where is there information about Ackleberry and the missing Desert forest?
Unknown2005-02-23 16:55:55
The histories.
Estarra2005-02-23 17:12:17
There's a forest in a desert in the histories?

You have to read between the lines *sagenod*
Shiri2005-02-23 17:23:03
Someone a while back said that the Skarch might have been from where another forest used to be that would balance out Ackleberry on the Ethereal, Estarra. (Because they assume it has to be a four-point star. tongue.gif) So that's probably what's being referred to. (I hate myself for remembering that.)
Laysus2005-02-23 17:25:56
It's a theory that more than one person seems to have had. Ackleberry would've had an ethereal section, presumably cut off with the forest itself during the taint wars, and the ethereal's symmetrical, so it stands to reason that there was another out to the west.
Rashidat2005-02-23 17:37:00
I thought there might be something beyond the histories that was being reffered to. Do we even know the name of the last High Preist(ess) of the Lake Wood Coven? What where its two spirits? I presume a Lake and some sort of animal.

Also, I have never heard of the Desert forest. The Aftermath of the Divine Wars only mentions Trees numbering 3.
Unknown2005-02-23 17:43:41
Ackleberry is in the histories.

Someone (Daganev?) made up the theory that to balance out the Ethereal, there used to be another forest - the obvious place would be the skarch. So the skarch was once a forest before it became a desert... *shrug*.
