I was just catching up on Achaea's news and... THEY KILLED THERA! It's.. It's.. not right..
Thera was always my second favorite place, after Tsurke.. 'Cause that was where Caspie's temple was.. Anyway.. Could we steal Thera? I'd love to do the Maim quest again.

There was destroyed AGES ago in Aetolia. We now have a North of Trees as a meeting spot.
Jalain2005-02-24 09:24:08
North of... Trees... How.. imaginative..
Daganev2005-02-24 09:29:04
HOw and why did they destroy thera?
Auseklis2005-02-24 09:31:52
Something to do with Vertani and wars as I understand. I don't really pay that much attention.
I think I heard Maim's is still there as it wasn't actually part of Thera.
No we can't steal Thera, we'll make something better.

Not altogether sure why, but guessing it's more retaliation by the Vertani for attacks by players. Heard they meteored the whole place.
celahir2005-02-24 11:35:15
OOO if you make something better can I help even though I'm not a mortal builder?
Erion2005-02-24 15:28:57
Maim's quest is impossible, due to it requiring the blacksmith in Thera for one part of it.
Soll2005-02-24 16:05:12
In Aetolia Thera got overrun by huge trees or something, ages back. Big elder trees stood at the entrance to the Black Forest and blocked it off, including south from NoT. The whole place is now just Morgun Forest.

I love Lusternia's attitude. "We don't need this... we'll make something better!" I know whatever is cooked up with be unusual, interesting, and 100% fun. I just hope it doesn't create another "NoT" like in the other IRE games. I partly blame NoT for killing RP in the other IRE games. "Hey, let's go hang out at NoT and talk with a bunch of my mortal enemies!"

I think the Vertani are rebuilding Thera...not sure though. That's what I gathered when I was on Achaea last night.
Gwylifar2005-02-24 16:40:23
In Aetolia, Thera and Black Forest got upset with each other as the forest was waking up. They fought. The forest won. Eventually the Therans founded a new village they named Arbothia.

I play Achaea still alot frequently, and basically, you would have to read through all 250 some posts on the vertani plot news board... basically, its summed up like this...
Vertani are invaders. They came and took over Tasur'ke. Then, because some of the players were angering them, they meteored all of North of Thera, except for Maim's castle. I don't think they are going to rebuild it, but I'm not sure. They are all NPC's. Personally I think the Vertani were a pointless addition, because it is suggested that you need to be lowest level 80 to even have a fleeting chance. But that requirement would be like a level 15 going against Forestwatch Buckawns. Anyway, this isn't an achaea board so I'll shut up.
My other two cents is that I want a general meeting place in Lusternia, just please, please, please do NOT call it NoT.
Aetolia's is weird. When I first started, I didn't know that Morgun Forest was hostile, and went travelling in there, because I was a druid. Nearly died..

Why would you want a general meeting place outside of your city walls? The Church's fraternization rule was pretty blatantly OOC. Experience says that free mingling creates friendships, which in turn leads to mutual tolerance, since you have some kind of emotional attachment, and the imm-created conflict slowly washes away into a bland vanilla-grey.
Now THAT would solve the problem of PK on Prime.

I want a meeting place for everyone, because despite the preset hostilities, I have friends from all different places... Serenwilde, Celest... etc. It provides good RP, trying to figure out how these people can like each other. Just because I am a Magnagoran, doesn't mean that I'm an unsocial prick...
Gwylifar2005-02-24 18:41:24
May I suggest the Ackleberry Triple Junction?
Roark2005-02-24 18:51:39
NoT as a meeting place was a player invented idea. I do not believe any gods decreed it to be such. I suspect it was a popular place to begin mutual hostilities since it was close to Ashtan, but far enough away to feel like it was outside of Ashtan since it said "Thera" in it and was the first location on the road to Ashtan to branch in different directions (the bog and Sinistar's crypt did not exist back then). Bear in mind that originally Ashtan was the only city. So naturally people who want to fight each other but take it outside the city would be somewhere near Ashtan. But the point is that the gods do not need to pick a place for you if you want one.

It's called the Akashica Institute. It's entirely neutral, it's easily accessed, and it'll be great fun once your city leaders get some funding flowing...
Richter2005-02-24 19:34:17
NoT was a place where RP went out the window, and people stood around all day, hitting each other and saying, "How much???"
And the institute... As nice as it is, my library is already as big as your manse. Once I finish the darn descriptions, maybe get that arena I wanted (*twiddle*), we'll see about turning it into a puiblic place. I've started down that road by adding a community stables, and soon, the World's End Tavern.
Anyway, the point was, NoT was an RP junkyard.

I was wondering why the admins destroyed it. Not why some Charachters in the story line destoryed it.
Was NoT becomming too much of an issue?
