Rowena

If you upped Rowena's price to seasone's and stripped the herb requirement, all would be well with the world, its still a pain in the ass to get the herbs, and since you made her able to fill, she might as well fill without needing herbs from the buyer, increase the price by 100 gold, up to 300. (herbs for health/mana vials cost between 65-80 per vial), it costs more ultimately, but removes the hassle and the hours of screaming over market "looking for an herbalist!"
Unknown2005-02-25 16:44:37
It could easily put herbalists more out of buisness, though. If less people are buying herbs (magnagorans), then the already flooded herb market will go down...
*shrug* I don't use her, myself, so I don't know.
Soll2005-02-25 17:22:37
I always thought her needing herbs wasn't great. I agree, just raise her price lots and give her the herbs.
Shiri2005-02-25 18:36:40
Although what Dyr said (the herbalists going out of business - there's a tonne of us, the market's oversaturated and the need for herbs shouldn't be THAT high, eh) is actually in favour of Rowena not needing herbs, I think that she should. 'cause, the whole point is to give Magnagorans/Celestians (well, if they were at war with us, which they aren't) a fairly worse set of alchemy than us, but still -possible.- Now, we don't get an enchanting NPC, but if we did, I'd hold that he'd want...uh...the powerstones or something.
Narsrim2005-02-25 21:40:01
Since when did an undead, spaced out Wiccan -ALCHEMIST- have the ability to harvest herbs? Simply put, if given the separation in Lusternia, it makes perfect sense that Rowena would require herbs since she is an alchemist.
Richter2005-02-25 21:41:58
Unfortunately, I agree.

And heck, I don't use her anyway. That's what I created the Merchant's Guild for!

Do a lot of people get thier potions from her?
Akraasiel2005-02-25 21:53:22
yes, almost all Mag novies have to.

I personally just use Seren refillers discreetly on my alts, but it really makes life hell for novices, having to find the damn herbs, then stumble around trying to find her.
Daganev2005-02-25 22:54:37
Nobody said brenan wasn't an herbalist who supplied Rowena.
Richter2005-02-26 00:01:59
He's like Rowena's dealer. I can see it now, "Lusternia, teh shizzle Edition".

Yo.
Unknown2005-02-26 01:06:01
I don't like the idea. Alchemists find it hard to get the herbs they need so when they are running short they would lose business to the slightly more expensive but always available Rowena Vials.
Daganev2005-02-26 01:31:14
Yet alchemists arnt' filling the potions of mag novices anyway, I don't see your point.

The only reason people go to Rowena is because Alchemists either refuse or are unable to fill potions for people.
Unknown2005-02-26 01:39:53
My point is that if Rowena stopped needing herbs, Alechmists would be an even less viable option. The fact that we are a bit cheaper and provide herbs atm gives us an edge over Rowena.

I thought this game was meant to have a player-run economy?
Akraasiel2005-02-26 02:07:25
When the players refuse to properly run their economy, its time for someone to step in. Use it or lose it. Set a standard price for herbs, and refills, it doesnt matter how high, as long as its below 250 for healths, which is about the cheapest you can do for Rowena, and sell to everyone.
Ceres2005-02-26 12:03:59
Seasone didn't put Concoctionists out of business.

People here are just panicky because there's no Oakstone.

Get over it.
Kree2005-02-27 03:33:40
Two points, Seasone cannot do all the different salves and such that the player concoctionists can. And Seasone is more expensive than player concoctionists.
I think that as long as herbs are hard to locate, due to the flood of alts raping rooms of the herbs, the herb market will always be in a shambles. I've recently made my last sale of herbs. I do not wish to replant anymore, so I cannot harvest anymore. Dunno what imma switch to, maybe just sit on the skills till things get sorted out if ever. I digress.
And sadly I cannot think of a way that will work to curb this.

I'll say it again: Player-run economy. It's fun RP to have people all panicked that they can't get the potions they want.
Jalain2005-03-04 05:50:20
With my Mag alt, I just go to the portals room, jump into Deepnight, jump to the Aetherplex, go into one of the manses connected to Serenwilde and jump out at Serenwilde to go shopping for herbs.

Yeah, it's all fun and games until you actually take the time out to look at how things are from the other side tongue.gif

Is bashing one of those things?

Rowena should suffer from multiple personality disorder. She should revert to her pre-Taint form during the daytime and be all servile to all untainted peoples, and during the nighttime revert to her Taintedself and be all servile with Tainted Ones and be all hateful and spiteful towards untainted refusing service and trying to kill untainted folks... by giving venoms instead of elixirs.
