commune/city privileges

Hello!

As the Serenwilde chancellor, I occasionally have to deal with transferring shops to new owners and things like that, and every time I have to bother an immortal to help me with the keys. Now, here's a idea:

Give chancellors the privilege to order lock changes, and see a list of how many copies exist of a key. That could be done in cooperation with the commune/city locksmith, as a minister-only privilege similar to withdrawing from ministry funds...
I think it'd make chancellor work much more convenient, and it really should be something the chancellor can do. It's highly annoying if you always have to bother an immortal to make sure nobody made some stray copy of a stockroom key and can come shoplift any time they please.

Granted, it's a privilege that could be abused to cause some havok, but quite a bunch of privileges are like that. Like always, make things show up in the logs, so people are able to respond to obvious abuse.

What do you guys think?
Can you think of other reasonable changes to commune/city privileges?

I also think that the communelock privilege should be available to guild champions, so they can seal strategically critical entry points if needed. Right now, I need to aide all the champions to give them that option. Bleh.

I like the idea, but it should be expensive... like 50K

The shop owner would need to be their to agree to the lock change.

Let other ministries be able to access funds.

Culture needs gold for prizes, ditto with credits.

Perhaps the Head dude (Marshal, Prince, Emperor) can assign credits to the Culture funds to use as prizes.
Daganev2005-03-01 03:07:58
cultural does have access to gold.
Aebrin2005-03-01 06:30:00
Nope,

when I do CITY FUNDS CULTURE WITHDRAW bleh (or whaever it is)

It says that only Ambassador and Trade has access.
Daganev2005-03-01 07:43:13
It only has access to the gold when the arena is up.

... that sucks. Either the ministry does have funds and can access them, or not. Why allocate money if the minister can't use it??

ignore that... ministers have funds to fund their expensive privileges, of course. duh me. Still, it'd be neat if they could use the funds for prizes and stuff. Every Ministry can come up with some use for funds

I think the key privs should neither require the consent of the shopowner, nor cost alot of gold.

I don't really plan on charging the shopowners another 50k just so they can get the stockroom they just bought fixed with a proper lock.

Regarding owner consent, it wouldn't do anything.
If I want to change the lock, I could just transfer the shop to me and agree to it. Or transfer it to the new owner and have them agree.
Also, usually the reason why I have need for those privileges will be because I need the lock changed either NOW (key robbed, whatever) or don't expect to have the owner's consent on it (part of seizing their shop after they did a shopkeeping policy violation that warrants that move)

I keep money in the Culture Ministry, and if the Minister of Culture wants to use it for prizes, I remove it from Culture and more it to Ambassador or Trade and get them to withdraw it and give it to MoC. Same with any other Ministry that might need gold for something. They let me know, and I transfer it around so they can get it.
As for the keys.. I would agree with the high price, but whatever the price is, I'll make sure to keep about 10k under it in the Chancellor coffers. I'm very.. finicy with the gold I put in the Ministries, and with the possible abuses that COULD be inflicted on the Commune. That's why I lowered the ammount of gold in Chancellor to 40k when Kayde (I think it was her) was Chancellor and the majority of the Gladheons were leaving the Commune. Didn't want her to redecorate and rename too many shops or storerooms if she decided to leave.

Regarding the key privileges, maybe the consent of a council member would be needed, to limit abusability.

It wouldn't be overly hindering if a chancellor needs to get the lock changed, and prevents them from just transferring all shops to themselves and emptying their stockrooms via lockchanges before they head off to the general direction of the enemy city, and the like.

This, or something simular to it was in Achaea once upon a time. It was abused like crazy and there for removed.

And to get a new lock and key for a shop(or any room in a city for that matter) costs 10k.

So those 10k are due when you ask an immortal for it? Or is there some game mechanic for it, anyone I can buy that from or a command to do it?
