Okay, so curiousity question here... most people know a "general" idea of what's considered "good" in regards to typing speed. 60 wpm is okay, 80 is not bad, 90 is great, 100 is very fast. BUT what in the world is good in KPH (keys per hour) on the 10-key? Since playing with this whatpulse thing, I decided to go check out my KPH which turned out to be around 15,000 although I had to learn where the /*-+ buttons were really fast. Is that alright, normal, good?

Last I checked, I was at 43 WPM...Heheh. But, I've only been using computers for a little over 2 years. How do you find your KPH?
Unknown2005-03-02 12:01:00
Well consider that you have to have an average of 8k - 10k KPH to get a data-entry position and, yes, that does sound good.

I type 100+ WPMs. My most was 132, my average is hovering around upper 90s lower 100s.

Not a clue what my WPM rate is, something around 80 I'd say, at a guess. Around 60-70 right now though, because having a wrist in a cast slows down everything. sad.gif

When im in a good swing I break 120, usually I hover between 90 and 110 when typing at a normal intensity. When typing from manuscript to word I can get up above 120.

Looking at my pulse log, I typed 8,174 keys per hour. But who know hos much of that time was spent not typing. I'm currently pulsing once ever 1000 keys... so I guess I should pick a new pulse limit.

And looking at my highest kps on my online stats I had 12204 kph at one point.

I don't actually know how this pulse thing works, and I can't be bothered to go check, so I'm just going on exactly as normal and right clicking and doing "pulse" for no reason whenever I feel like it. whistling.gif

Anyway. *goes to bed*

Yeahh...my best wpm was 140 with no errors. That was 6 years ago too. But I probably type around 100-120 usually. I'm a typing fiend. As for kpm..I really don't know. That whatpulse thing doesn't work on a Mac (That's a shocker tongue.gif)

I would say the kph sound right though...I mean I guess it depends on what you're doing. I tend to do a lot of typing on aol/lusternia/school stuff/here.
Akraasiel2005-03-03 03:17:38
scary, my pulse log registered 6K keys in 15 minutes... I was transferring an article from notepad to my computer. Heh, thats insane.
Daganev2005-03-03 03:27:00
fix your font colors or put a shadow on your text, I can't read it.
Akraasiel2005-03-03 04:18:19
Get glasses.
Daganev2005-03-03 04:21:50
nothing to do with glasses,, its the colors not the font.

When you "Pulse", it sends the amount of Keys and Clicks you have done since you last Pulse to the WhatPulse server-thing -- basically updating your online stats.

I thought they had a Mac client...
Daganev2005-03-03 09:49:22
know whats interesting... whatpulse doesn't recongize the clicks I make with my Wacom pen as being clicks... how oddd.

I use it often... I'm sad.
Yrael2005-03-03 09:53:32
*sniff*

My sig doesnt show that i'm up to 30k keys already.

Daganev2005-03-03 09:55:26
only updates once every 6 hours... glad to see you got it to work. Were you able to join the team yet?
Yrael2005-03-03 10:37:38
Yeah. 40k keys.

You can set it to update a lot more often. Right click on the tray icon (if you got one) and go to program settings.
