I just got simpleMu and so far it looks pretty sweet, does anyone have some tips and suggestions for starting a system... Right now my hopes for my first system is to highlight afflictions and echo the key combo to cure it. Echo eq balance and herb/salve balances (big)... And maybe if I really get into it, a button/something to list my current afflictions...
In short I want to make a manual system... Help please?

As far as I know, it doesn't have buttons (only really zMUD has them, with other VBScript Clients and such (e.g. MUSHClient)).

As for learning the scripting, read the help files, e.g: Using SimpleMU > Aliases > What are Aliases?

yes, so now I'm back to mush client, but since I couldn't get that error to go away with python, Im gonna try Vbscript, very sadly that is, I was pumped to be using python, sad sad sad, win95 is sooo obsolete

If you have trouble with scripting in VBScript, Python, or any of the others that use WSH because of your version of Windows, I would recommend giving Lua a try. The syntax is fairly clean and it's not too difficult to learn. I've managed to implement a few classes using their tables, sort of the way people did class-like things in standard C with structs and function pointers.

Anyway, I have SimpleMU as well... and it's kinda nice since you can do events- instant responses to stuff that happens...

Only problem is the stupid free version only allows me 10 of those. My question is, other than beating somebody up, and taking their key... or paying for it, is there a way to get around that?

Use Nexus. Really. It is possible to make triggers using aliases to delete and make new triggers, and I did that for a while on Achaea, but it's not worth it. Nexus is better than the neutered SimpleMU, and Nexus is just plain bad.
