This skill needs disabled from the arena, ASAP. I just had a shield destroyed and it didn't return upon the spar. Furthermore, I'd like to take a moment and throw in that being able to destroy a shield in 4 attacks is extremely lame. If combat in Lusternia is ever going to be balanced, this is one skill that needs to go. The same goes for Dilute. These instant (or damn near instant) abilities to either destroy items or potions ruins combat. Imagine if Moondancers had an ability where we could concentrate a burst of moonlight onto a sword/mace and blow it up in four bursts... that'd be about the same.

If shields reset, weapons couled or knocked need to reset as well.

Coule doesn't knock weapons from your hand. And if they were, you could simply pick them up again or go back into the arena to pick it up, whereas a shield that is smashed is completely destroyed. Huge difference there.
Ixion2005-03-11 07:28:10
No, and no.

1)Yes coule DOES knock weapons, but it's a really small chance if gripped.

2)Spending gold to get your weapon from the arena is crap, someone can steal it as well. I know I always grabbed my enemy's weapon or scooped it first before they could prior to combat ending, resulting in the enemy begging me for the weapon back out of the arena. As such, you lose your weapons because the enemy has it or you lose gold to just reclaim the weapons. Thus, weapons should reset. I have artie swords so I could care less- Im trying to help everyone else out.

It took 4 hits for you?

2, 3 and 2 respectively, the last times I had it done to me.

Ah well..

Both should be fixed, but shieldsmash is more urgent, since it actually destroys.
Ceres2005-03-11 08:01:18
-shifty- -shieldsmash tuek- -flee-

Runes are another thing if done in the arena the coal should come back at the end since the runes don't.
silimaur2005-03-11 13:17:07

At least I forged another one for you afterwards. happy.gif

As for skills destroying belongings, what about vestophobia? Loosing a set of full plate is much more painful. And I guess pookha can be used to to a certain extent to steal/destroy stuff too.

EDIT: Or, instead of utterly destroying the shield, make it so the shield becomes a 'smashed shield' which cannot be wielded but can be smelted down later to get the metal comms back for reforge.

i hate thieves *glare*
Shiri2005-03-11 13:43:04
Yeah...I sorta emptied a load of health vials, and nicked a few, in the arena a while back, but that was 'cause I didn't know they didn't come back. (I THINK I refunded all of them now, I hope I didn't miss anyone.) I still think it should sort of savestate your dude and then put him back after it's done. Solves the whole problem.

Both vestiphobia and being forced to give stuff away is stopped by flame sigils, curse enchantments, and simple selfishness.
Ceres2005-03-11 15:54:53
So force rubbing the item first. Removes the curse.
Amaru2005-03-11 18:16:06
In total agreement with Narsrim on this one. It doesn't make sense.
Gwylifar2005-03-11 20:44:57
Everything that happens in the arena should unhappen when you leave. You should be snapshotted going in and restored to the snapshot coming out. No gaining or losing defenses, no gaining or losing power, no gaining or losing equipment. Nothing should change except the coins you paid to get in and the combat ranking if appropriate.

And your bragging rights.
