can a rogue just pick any 3 skills he/she wants, for example could you be like a raja w/ knighthood, tarot, and nihilism??? That would be insane... Can you? Or do you have to first pick an archetype... Or must you even join a guild first?
Thanks... This is kind of confusing me at the moment..

You need to pick an archetype and get off novicehood.
Then quit the guild. You will, of course, be hunted down if you do this to the Nihilists.

nah, not nihilists...
but that's still an interesting idea... anyway, how do some people have rituals and totems then?

Sekreh2005-03-16 04:55:12
Who are these people? I want one.
Drago2005-03-16 04:55:28
They don't, they have enchantments.
Daganev2005-03-16 06:48:22
You can't join a guild if you have any skills that will become illegal if you get the guild skills.
Typhus2005-03-16 16:52:56
I think your thinking of the Serenguard... But fail to see your reasoning.
Shiri2005-03-16 16:54:56
... The Serenguard don't have rituals either, so it doesn't work for them.
Desdemona2005-03-16 16:58:07
Rogues are pariah, beware the rogues...
Yeah, to get to keep your skills just graduate from novicehood. Personally, for a rogue, I'd suggest someone to be of a guild that can harvest (any forestal guild or warrior archetype if you learn Lowmagic)...

Or if you go mage, invest in Illusions as your Guild specific skills basically all require power... Which you will never have.
Shamarah2005-03-16 21:46:28
Actually, most of them don't. Flood doesn't take Pool power, I'd assume it's similar for Taint and Forest. The thing that will really suck if you go rogue as a mage, however, is that you won't be able to summon your staff.
Erion2005-03-16 21:57:06
Could go rogue druid. Who the hell needs a staff when your demesne does the work?
Richter2005-03-16 22:06:04
Demesnes cost power to set up. Power you don't have as a rogue (moonhart power).
In my opinion, the only effective rogues are warriors, like myself. We don't use as much specific power.
And about totems, only one skill in the actual totems skilset takes power, the one that bonds all in one go, so I still have use of all of my totems, just not nessecarily all of my stag skills.
Msg me if you need any help.

ab druidry forest
Syntax: FORESTCAST FOREST
FORESTCAST FORCEFOREST
Power: 1 (Moonhart Tree)
You may temporarily transform almost any environment into a forest location. If
a location is currently the demesne of any druid or mage, you can FORCE it and
break the meld in that location.
Yeah, what Richter said. Although, if you could get someone else to forest the area for you you could still meld it and put all of your effects up. You wouldn't be able to use a cudgel, though, and most of your stag skills plus the trans rune one would be useless.

Bah, flooding takes any power? How about tainting? Maybe it is an oversight, or a typo.
Typhus2005-03-16 23:06:59
Yeah.. Well, mages are the worst off possible rogues next to a Guardian, but even then a Guardian's basic skill set is argueably more balanced and crafted than a mages, which seems more of hogdepodge element skills from Achaea...
Yukari2005-03-16 23:07:22
Tainting specifically takes Megalith Power, and I think flood does too for some reason...even though it says otherwise. I think I tried to flood while rogue Aquamancer.
Typhus2005-03-16 23:08:49
Tainting takes power, melding does not. Thus, you are effective where those from your Guild hunting you would be...
Richter2005-03-16 23:11:31
Typo maybe?
