Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on who they think will win the NCAA Championship.
My pics
Final Four
Oklahoma beating Duke
Oklahoma State beating Illinois
Kansas beating North Carolina
Georgia Tech beating Texas Tech (Albequerque bracket is weak)

Oklahoma beating Oklahoma State
Cant figure out how to show my bracket and what not....

I agree that March is awesome, I love college BBall.
However, your claim that the Albequerque bracket is weak is simply untrue. Now, admittedly, as a University of Washington Alumn, I'm somewhat biased, but I will back up my claim with facts:
1. UW is definitely the bottom 1 seed. I won't argue otherwise. However, anyone who has actually watched this team play knows they can play with the best of them. They posted an amazing record against one of the hardest schedules out there, in a very good conference (PAC-10 sends 4 teams to the dance this year). They have one of the best players in college basketball (Robinson) and one of the best shooters in the nation (Simmons) plus the deepest bench I've ever seen. Don't discount this team.
2. Wake: could have been a 1 seed if not for Paul's absence. He's back now, and these guys are good. This is one of the best 2 seeds in the tournament, if not the best.
3. If you're a fan of college basketball for real, you just can't count Gonz out that early. They have the most flexible offense in basketball, deep bench, one of the best 3 point shooters in college who can also handle like a demon, and a lottery pick forward who can play with anyone in the country. Oh, and this diabetic forward from my high school named Adam Morrison, if you want to see a sophmore who can flat out play, watch this guy.
4. Louisville: This is where you really see the bracket flesh out. Louisville always has a decent team, and this year, they can play D and shoot 3's as well as anyone. They had a great run during the season, and I think they are the most underrated team in the tournament. I'd pick them over any other #4, although 'Cuse is on a lot of brackets late.
5. Georgia Tech: Are you kidding me? Have you seen these guys play? A 5 seed? Absurd. Close to above as hugely undderrated. Although Jack looked pretty hurt during the conference tourney, that could spell an early end for an otherwise good team. Maybe you didn't see the conf tourney, and missed his obvious ailing...he's a warrior, I agree, but he's clearly not at 100% and they are going to need him to be. They won't advance out of this bracket.
6, 7, and 8 you have TTech, WV, and Pacific, all of which are playing exceptionally well. Compares favorably with like seeds in any bracket, and much better then, say, Chicago.
10. Creighton, also a good team and usually plays well at tournament time. Plus, they are a 10 seed, a spot that traditionally does extremely well.
Thus, I say there is NOTHING weak about this bracket, if you've watched these teams, and there is NO way GTech advances. Even if Louisville's D doesn't wear Jack to the ground, Washington's uptempo game will.
TTech, as much as I think Knight is a good coach, would lose to either Gonz or Wake, since they are both healthy and put together now. No chance they advance.
I have a feeling it will be UNC over Illinois in the finals, but I'm really pulling for a G8 between UW and Gonz!

My Final 4:
Illinois over Wake Forest
Duke over NC
Illinois over Duke in the Championship.
And I agree that Albequerque is not a weak bracket. Being a fan of a Pac-10 team, I've seen what Washington has done this season. Although, the Sun Devils made it interesting last weekend.

Duke will lose to either Syracuse in the Sweet Sixteen or Oklahoma in the Elite Eight. Duke and Oklahoma played earlier in the year and Duke barely won that game. Oklahoma is a whole lot better than they were when they played Duke early on. Kentucky is the most overrated team in the Austin bracket.
I can see UNC getting to the final four so long as they dont have to play Kansas. Roy Williams having to coach against his former players might be kinda hard on him.

Duke not playing well, agree. Kentucky overrated, agree (Sorry Raiha!). Haven't seen enough of OK to say much.
Here, lets try this...I made a group on ESPN so we can make brackets and compare! The group is called Lusternia, PW estarra. You can view my bracket (hopefully) here.

Cant view it until the tournament starts.
I am a tad biased because I come from Big12 country dont really see many Pac 10 teams play

well, you can still join the group, and once the tourney starts we can all see them, I think. Or at least the scores.

But yeah, I'll admit, this year's team is.. meh. Like I've heard over and over again, we lack any superstars. But we're -decent-, we're always at least decent. Stupid Florida and Walsh and his lamearse 3 pointers. I loathe Duke. I'd love it if they got knocked out, muha.
<3 Gonzaga.
I'm betting on Illinois for the championship.
Nyla2005-03-15 21:47:51
I think this is the first year in a long time that Florida hasnt reached number one in the polls and then plummeted out of them
timsae2005-03-15 22:54:26
I posted mine. I made a few changes from my original bracket. I have final 4 being Illini, UNC, Wake, and Duke, but I have UNC and Ill in championship with Illini winning it.

I didn't even know what you were talking about until someone said 'BBall'.
Sportz iz teh suck.

UNC is gonna take it all... Alabama will fall in the first round... OSU will make it to the final four, and hmmm what other predictions do I want to pull out of the air... I'll let you know.

you scare me Daganev...I'm a fan of the (notice the spelling) Terrapins, but alas, they missed the tourney this year. They always manage to beat a few good teams, but they went on a late slide...one of the 'last 4 out' on 90% of brackets. Oh well.

I think some crazed boy-band look-alike fan will jump into the ring and beat the snot out of all the players, thus taking the trophy and the win.
His name also happens to be Kyle, and he's addicted to Lusternia.

Well, Olan. It's come down to the final game of our little ESPN group. Illinois wins and I win, UNC wins and you win.
Roul2005-04-04 23:16:48
I was rooting for Villanova. Just because they're local-ish.
Other than that, eh. Exciting news, Phillies opening game was today, which means absolutely nothing to me, or pretty much anyone else here in the city (be they fan of baseball or not, I'm not), except something to fill the gap until the football season starts up again. Phillies are gonna lose real bad. 76ers suck total ass, too.
Luckily, all I like is Football and Hockey, BUT THEY'RE NOT ON NOW. ARGH.
