Is that from dreamweaving?
Sylphas2005-03-20 21:47:10
That's an embedded memoryloss mote. We can embed motes like you can fuse runes.
Veonira2005-03-20 21:48:33
Yup. Grand!
Sylphas2005-03-20 21:55:26
Embedded blackout in a druid's demesne is going to be a lot of fun to play with, and embedded hallucination illusions could be quite interesting.
Shiri2005-03-20 21:58:39
Less so since you can't actually throw runes at people to make so much use of them, mind...
Terenas2005-03-20 22:02:54
So let me get this straight, if I'm reading Cere's log right, dreamweaving allows you to blackout someones every 3 seconds for 7 seconds where all the other demesne effects are hitting you, and the Mage/Druid is as well?

Soll2005-03-20 22:04:21
I like. biggrin.gif Though you'd normally have other motes in there as well, so blackout wouldn't hit all the time.
Soll2005-03-20 22:04:45
Anyway, there are enough ways to remove it.

Enough ways to remove blackout? How many of them are actually simple curing abilities? And why would a Mage use anything but blackout if they still have the demesne hitting with stun/prone/cold affliction/reality or stun/prone/broken legs/ poison gas/reality or paralyse/spores/broken limbs and the enemies unable to see anything?
Sylphas2005-03-20 22:08:29
Yeah, you could stick in undoing and have passive defense stripping instead. halo.gif
Silvanus2005-03-20 22:09:48
You forgot phantoms biggrin.gif
Shamarah2005-03-20 22:12:46
Blackout is the only thing that lets us stack afflictions, without it dreamweaving would be largely useless. Dreamweaving's afflictions really aren't that great and there aren't many of them, so it's a necessary tool.

Yeah, forgot Phantoms, hell why not throw in wounds, stalker, and stagcurse too? I can already see this skillset as being absurdly overpowered, and I don't even have it or know more than half of its abilities. The Magi class's demesne was already bordering too powerful, giving them something else that can be stacked with their demesne and allowing them to keep their bodies away from combat seems unbelievable to me. Not to mention only those with Violet/Indigo or Kether can hit them. doh.gif

You're kidding me right? By your logic then how did Magi manage to stack afflictions prior to dreamweaving? Especially since runes give messages?
Sylphas2005-03-20 22:18:32
Did you just compare stagcurse to phantoms? O_O
Shamarah2005-03-20 22:19:01
Perhaps because we could sling two runes at once, and there were stupidity, hypochondria, and hallucination runes?

EDIT: Yes, I do admit the blackout is nasty and something needs to be done about it - what Ceres posted is a bit insane - but seriously, I couldn't really keep any afflictions on Ceres during a spar while she was in my demesne. On the rare occasions that I actually put her to sleep she just woke up and healed fairly quickly.
Ceres2005-03-20 22:23:02
That was with a hell of a lot of diagnose and gedulah.

I hit you maybe, what? 10 times?
Thorgal2005-03-20 22:25:27
I'm still chuckling about that hilarious joke Estarra made...

"...dreamweaving won't be picked by those who like fighting, it's not that effective for combat..."

All mages need now is diamondskin, why don't they get it? I mean, they take arseloads of damage, they take 1300 a blow where others take 300, they die in a few hits, it just isn't fair! Give them diamondskin!

Everyone go mage now and buy mage arties! smile.gif

I don't even want to think about the ramifications for group combat.
