Perhaps with the introduction of Dreamweaving there could be items called Dreamcatchers (yeah, like those actual Dreamcatchers) released. This items could be used only at night time, when someone is about to sleep or is forced to sleep, it triggers as something as defence instantly. The point is, that any carrier of the Dreamcatcher who is alseep grows an immunity against Dreamweavers. Both sleeper (Dreamcather) and Dreamweaver engage on a battle of influence, in this battle if the Dreamweaver wins, he can't do double the "punishment" or even possess the body of the sleeper, if the Dreamcather wins... the Dreamweaver is immobile for a period of time, is slowly stripped out of willpower/health, giving an alarm to the sleeper that it is time to awake.
On the other hand, a Dreamweaver could use a dreamcather to gain a bit more protection and slight regeneration of something (willpower?), and an accelerated transportation for his dreambody to reach his sleeping body. On the other hand, other dreamweavers who come across a sleeping dreamweaver with a Dreamcather, they (Dreamcather vrs. Dreamweaver) can engage on an influence battle. If the Dreamcather looses, the Dreamweaver may enter the body of the other Dreamweaver, preventing the other Dreambody to reenter their body for a period of time.
As another thing, Dreamcathers should allow Dreamweavers to weave random dreams for people to experience, if the the dream is good, the sleeper when awaking has a added benefit... an added defence, more health? Something random like Fortuna. If it is bad, they get a negative effect.
Edit: Nevermind this post... just realized that you can already possess other people during your dreambody, or I come to understand that... Dreamweaving is awesome. Someone give it to me?

Hmm. Only as an artifact. Dreamweaving, as Estarra's said, isn't a particularly combat related thing to begin with, so making it worse by forcing influencing into the bargain would help nothing. (Want this topic retitled "Dreamcatcher", while we're at it? )
Desdemona2005-03-20 21:39:13
Retitle it if you want... Regarding the item, I think it should be a High Crafts/Arts(?) skill. Quite high, um... I just want a dreamcather and the possibility of interacting with the Dreamweavers/Dreamworld.
Shiri2005-03-20 21:45:05
Eh, get Indigo/Violet. Dreamcatchers maybe, but they sure wouldn't do that. It might be something tiny like having a chance to catch motes or something though.
Soll2005-03-20 21:45:42
Eugh. Don't make motes -less- likely to hit.
Shiri2005-03-20 21:49:53
0_o Don't you just have to puncture and they'll always go through?
Elryn2005-03-20 21:55:26
I would say it is already hard enough catching people asleep as it is, without an extra battle beforehand (which if they're smart they'll use as a sign to wake up). Especially if dreamers can't walk through doors now.
Desdemona2005-03-20 21:58:12
It would be great if there were more ways to force sleep, and if dreambodies could still go through doors (if there isn't any eye sigils). Can a dreambody climb trees? If not... I guess I've found myself a bed.

Can't you speed up people's need to sleep? Similar to hunger abilities?
Soll2005-03-20 22:06:23
We can, yes. We, as Dreamweavers, don't need more ways to make someone sleep. We've got plenty. We need more ways to get motes to go through.
Puncture: 1.5 sec eq. Focus Spirit removes it, and there's also one other way (Very appropriate) way of removing it that all can do

Focus Spirit can be used while asleep? So a Dreamweaver has many ways to force sleep, how about ways of keeping said person asleep?

What is it!?!
Sylphas2005-03-21 04:01:50
Reishi cures puncture, but it's a delayed cure.
Soll2005-03-21 07:32:22
Not going to tell you, Ceres.
As for ways of keeping people asleep, I've found none yet. We just have to do our skills within the few seconds between them falling asleep, and waking up, or metawaking.

You could embed undoing to help strip kafe/metawake, or get them so tired that waking up doesn't do them much good. Of course, drowse and sleepmists did nothing to Narsrim when we tested, so not sure if you can actually make them sleepier or not.
Unknown2005-03-21 07:40:06
Well actually i know of one Mote that is deadly for keeping people asleep, but if you dun know it yet, not gonna tell The Dreamcatcher idea would be good for a Arti, though i dont think many peolpe would get it since we're not meant to be combatants well sorta
Soll2005-03-21 15:55:39
Yeah, but that mote has a stupidly simple cure.
Ialie2005-03-21 15:57:53
I say pooooh! Oh this whole idea!
Hajamin2005-03-21 16:02:29
I'm just laughing because you dreamweavers haven't figured out half of what the skills really do yet, but you still post that you need this or that... I haven't really seen anything posted, that you said you needed, that you don't already have.
Soll2005-03-21 18:24:33
Hrm.. *goes to check*
