Distilling

I was thinking. People seem to hate dilute, and that it's a permanent effect that lasts until the vial is emptied, so heres an idea I had for a skill in alchemy to undo it:

DISTILL
cost: Half a percent of power reserve.
Using the alembic, boil off the excess water from an elixir, bringing it back to it's full strength. Be warned however, distilling an un-diluted vial will result in it's contents being ruined.

onlooker sees:

pours the contents of into the alembic, and brings it to the boil. When the excess water has been removed, carefully pours it back into its vial.

Person sees:
You pour the contents of into the alembic, and carefully bring it to the boil. The water boils off, and when the potion reaches the required consistency, you take it off the heat and pour it back into the vial.

I'm thinking possible side effects would be the loss of up to 1/10 of the remaining sips.

I'd still prefer dilute to be unpermanent effect... sleep.gif
And if something goes wrong with Magnagora-Serenwilde relations, Magnagorans will suffer the same cause they're going to be the only ones hit with it and will be denied of alchemy.

Heh I put the exact idea up when someone complained about Dilluting in the Idiots section... i think it was Silvanus.

hm, mebbe that's where I got the idea from.

...Let's make people more dependent on alchemists! Yay!

Yes, because we'd rather have them depend on buying all new vials each time, because that's so much better. doh.gif

Laysus, you DO remember my 'Boil' suggestion in environment for that, right? tongue.gif

Alchemists don't need another monopoly suddenly raging - why not fix two birds with one stone, in having a way to fix dilute, and making Environment a little less....left behind, when it comes to useful skillsets.

What Bricriu said. I TOLD YOU SO LAYSUS.

Once the Glomdoring comes, I don't think there'll be as big of a problem as a "alchemist monopoly".

Although, I would like to see the Geomancers end up with an ability to afflict people's enchantments, and make all rubs use double charges. happy.gif Or it just takes double the charges. Like, it uses lodestone to draw out the magic. Or something.
Sylphas2005-03-23 18:55:25
Ooo, and then Hartstone would have an ability to destroy half the herbs in your rift?
