Firefox is great

I downloaded Firefox last week because Greg at Real Life Comics said his site works better with it. I was planning to use it just for comics, but now I love it completly. Other than my bookmarks being all shuffled around from the transfer, Firefox has been so much more awesome that IE was. If you have IE, you really should look into an alternative.

So... What does everyone else have?

I use Firefox primarily, IE as default though for design purposes (firefox doesnt like some css and ###### -.- ) and the only other one I use is netscape and only on campus for site checking purposes

Firefox is great when the sites are coded properly - its only the sloppy ones that Internet Explorer is better for.

Oh and Jalain - as soon as possible, visit the extensions site and grab yourself AdBlock, Google Preview and Tabbrowser Preferences/Extensions.

Sloppy or no sloppy Firefox doesn't read colored scrollbars and transparent iframe stuff -.- still prefer it though tongue.gif

I used to use Firefox, but I found it slow and not able to display a few things properly. Now I use Opera, which I like a lot more -- more compatible (except with ActiveX), loads a lot faster than Firefox, more customizeable (the layout can be as simple or as busy as you want it to).

I use Opera.

At least it reads iframes now. I remember the older versions of Netscapes that didn't even recognise one. dry.gif And funny thing about CSS and Firefox is that if I do body {}, it'll show the background even though the background is in the tag, and it won't if I don't.

I use Firefox for most sites, IE for local sites. (For some weird reason, Singaporean sites just so enjoy using stuff that doesn't work in Firefox mad.gif.)

Safari 4 ever!!!
Shiri2005-04-04 13:32:01
Hmph. IE is being stupid. Normally I have no problems that I'm aware of, but I'm trying to read some jargon site Gwylifar quoted and it's making up weird symbols in lieu of regular ones. Mostly prefixed by some a capital or lower-case a avec circumflex. :/

You got it backwards my friend. Firefox, Opera and all the other browsers follow the HTML/CSS Standards set by the W3C. Basically, Microsoft is too lazy to make IE compatible with the current standards. In order for sites that use proper HTML/CSS to show up correctly on IE, you have to "trick" IE into thinking that it will show up nice and clean.

You're losing massive cool points everytime you bring up Crapintosh.

There's a way to make firefox load faster (mm, it works).

I, personally, love the DHS extension, which tells me your current threat level.. though it seems to be stuck on "Scared" *snicker*

Oh, and the BBcond menu thingy, I can add all sorts of stuff without ever leaving the typing box

I use Firefox, but it has one problem. It doesn't respond at all to the auto-links/hacks in www.ultimatepassw .... er.. um.. forget I said that.

I use the superior Macintosh for productivity stuff (surfing the web, producing my wedding photo album multimedia show, etc.). I use commandline Linux with no GUI for technonerd stuff like surfing the web in text, coding stuff like this old dead project, etc. Between the two, why use Winblows? (And no, games are better off on consoles.) Plus Safari is the best web browser out there for its speed.

So as to get things back on target, I should add to the original post that I actually use two browsers. When I'm in Linux I like to use a browser called links. It's a vastly superior text-based browser than lynx for those of you who are familiar with that one. If any of you are blessed with a commandline environment, you should check it out. I believe Red Hat used to distribute an RPM for it, so it's probably now in Fedora.

Ironic don't you think?

Consoles are lame... lame... just lame...

Unless you somehow have a 50"+ TV to play on. Then they go from lame to tolerable.
Shiri2005-04-08 19:34:37
No, no, consoles are fine. You just get different styles of game on each. You can't have any decent kind of action game on a PC, but then you can't have any decent strategy games (ugh, even AoE was reduced to cruddiness on consoles) on a console, nor can you have FPS's properly. Mouse control is just better for aim, while console controllers are good for rapidity of response and so forth. Plus they're more ergonomic for games playing as that's what they're designed for.
Daganev2005-04-08 20:51:52
Computers can have any shapped controler that you like. You can get a Jet fighter stick on consoles either. Also, the likely hood of your game changing over time on a console is NIL, while you can always download additions and hacks and mods for any computer game.
Richter2005-04-08 20:59:10
You can mix and match stuff with comps. I was playing a SNES game on my computer with my wireless Ps2 controller. happy.gif

And I use firefox, except that I cannot get the Email Inbox link on msn to use it (it opens it in IE, consequently I get spammed with popups afterwards), and I don't have Java on it, so I use IE to play Lusternia, when I need to use the composer.
Roul2005-04-08 22:52:22
I hate every FPS for consoles ever made. Except Halo and Halo 2.

Halo 2 is the best FPS ever made.

2nd best was Quake 2 for the PC. The grenade launcher was beautiful.

I use Internet Explorer, but that's because I'm forced to occasionally share this PC until I transfer. It's my damn chair though.. ninja.gif
