Is it me or am I the only one unable to sleep and dream? I consider not remembering my dreams not dreaming, seeing as it rarely happens for me.
Tips, secrets, or random dream discussion! I'm curious anyway.

If you remember your dream (basically dreaming), then you aren't getting good sleep.
All my good dream fantasies end before they get good anyways, leaving me with a hollow feeling.
But I usually sleep like a rock, and don't have dreams.

Beh, everyone dreams don't be silly, even if you don't remember them.

Well ya, but most people don't know that.

Try eating a meal before you sleep if you want to remember your dreams. Works for me anyway. And yeah, I know it's unhealthy to do that.

I happen to be an avid dreamer. I love my dreams, and I've even come to great ideas about stuff while dreaming before.
Anyway, a few stories.
1. Whenever I'm starting to get sick(like a fever or bad cold), I often dream of a conflict of some kind, and have often gotten better when the side I want to succeed wins. I know they are sick dreams because they make the least amount of sense. Like when I dremt of the Trans Kaido Excel sheets trying to kill the Rabbis that were wearing bathing suits.
2.I have my best dreams when I lie in bed and beging to stare at the blackness that is the back of my eyelids. If you concentrate enough you can normally make out a slightly different color black. Once I do, I focus on that differnt shade of black untill I can isolate it and keep it in the center of my vision. Then I turn it white, and then I slowly make it grow by "zooming in." Once my vision is all grey (or white if I'm lucky) I tend to start seeing images, and then I let me mind go with it. My most memorable vision was seeing the freeway entrance in a pencil colored sketch, and then slowly as I got closer to the freeway I saw more color. First the bushes turned green, then I started to see cars, then I fell asleep and don't remember what I dremt about, but I do remember that I had a huge dream that night that lasted me till morning. (you know the kind where one blends into the other with seemingly no connection from teh first one to the last)
3. The trick to remembering your dreams is to wake up during them. If you tell yourself to wake up when you dream its more than likely that eventually, after a week or so, you will. (this become easier if its a time in your life where your having nightmares) Eventually, after waking up during your dreams a lot, your dreams will turn into active imagination, which will eventually turn into control of your dreams, and then you get to the point where you remmeber most of your dreams even if you don't control them.
4. I once had a dream that I was arguing with a rabbi from the 15th century. The next day when I went back to school, I told my teacher about what I dremt (without telling him it was a dream) and he told me it was an interesting insight but didn't fit the overall philosphy of the rabbi.
5. Another time I had a dream that I broke the watch of my teacher (two years after I graduated) and I woke up feeling REALLY REALLY guilty, and even after knowing it was a dream, it took me all day to get rid of the guilty feeling.
Thats enough for now I think

When I was young I had a dream about this magical rainbow ribbon that this evil woman would use to turn children into parrots so she could mass an army of parrots to peck out the eyes of her enemies. For some reason that scared the crap out of me and when I woke up I had covered the entire bed with my own vomit.

Umm...yummy.
I used to dream about a serial killer who would go around poking women's boobies with a pin.

I don't like dreams. Bad ones make me wake up feeling as though I haven't slept a wink, and good ones make me all disappointed when I find out they're not real.
But everyone falls over laughing when I tell them the first one I remember, it was after Xmas day when I was about 2, my mum had bought these fairy tale books where if you put them on the floor and unfolded the pages the things would pop up, and I wanted to hear them but I didn't want to get near the (then) neck-height wolves and bears, so I watched from round the corner, only when I went to sleep the big bad wolf was chasing me around a cottage for some reason. It was scary.
Oh, and one thing I notice is that loads of people dream about me. Not a bad thing, you might say, but the thing is that I seem to end up dying in 99.9% of them. People will be like "Hi Shiri! Last night I dreamed about you, you got run over by a truck!" or (I specifically remember this one)"Hey Ben, last night I was having a dream, and we were playing football in the field, and someone kicked it over the fence by the fire station, and you offered to go fetch it, only when you climbed over you got stuck in the mud on the other side and died so we went into the sports hall and had a disco."...thanks. It's so nice to know that subconsciously everyone's wanting me to die!

That's so awful! I admit I laughed with the wolf thing, but only for a moment!
I've started to make up for my lack of remembering dreams by having extended moments before I sleep and after I wake up. Usually I'll just lose myself in thought about going somewhere with people I don't know.
My scary dreams (And I guess this is where it's GOOD not to remember) usually end up waking me up somehow, but the freaky part is something ALWAYS grabs me by a limb. So I just wake up, blankets over my head, and I feel this supernatural grip on my ankle, arm, or throat, and I have to tell myself "Michael, it's not real..."
One day I'll die though, but I guess that's why I keep that metal bat by my bed.

I don't remember my dreams either... Could be the cause of a terrible insomnia or restless sleep or whatever. Anyway, ever heard of lucid dreaming?
Shiri2005-04-06 17:29:11
Always wished I could do that.
Manjanaia2005-04-06 17:31:26
I recently went skiing, and I miss it terribly. Ever since I got back (a month and a half ago) I have dreamt about it repeatedly. I really enjoy these dreams, but wake up feeling so sad and disappointed.

As for you Cal, stop lyin Whether or not you remember your dreams has nothing to do with how well you sleep. It takes me less time than a normal human to reach level 4 sleep (deep sleep) and cause I sleep longer than most people I get to dream more hehe.
If you really want to remember your dreams that bad you might want to try meditating every day. Thinking before bed often helps 'direct' you dreams as well simply because your dreams are usually heavily swayed by recent events or thoughts/ or reoccuring thoughts you may not even know your mind thinks of. Either way you still may or may not remember em.. and in some cases youre just not supposed to remember *prods annoying subcon*
and... as for dreams of mine... we dont wanna go there -.- *hides sadistic child self behind her*

When you wake up in the morning, record what you remember. I've noticed that I only remember my dreams until I pretty mcuh get out of bed (2-10 minutes after I wake up).

I tend to dream vividly whenever I take medication containing anything with "codone" in the name. I usually remember my dreams. One I remember having was after playing way to much Imperian. I dreamed that I was actually my character, and was in a "store" with an enemy of my character and we were arguing about something. A creature came into the room, and I remember using PROBE on it to see who it was loyal to.
That is when you realize you've played toooo much. Or when you dream in text.

Deleted- Wow... there were some serious problems with that... I'm no even going to try to fix it, not worth it.

I keep a dream log of my remembered dreams.
Curious: Has anyone had any lucid dreams lately? You know, dreams that you're fully aware of and have complete control over? Bloody. Frickin'. Awesome. <3

I think I had this in the last post before I deleted it, but I get those about 40% of the time I do dream. Somewhere around that. -shrug- And indeed, they are fun.
