I know that this ability dosen't really have that much of a practiacal use, and some RP, but this ruins almost all of what practical use it had, so bear with me.
I was playing around some of Falasin's abilities I never use today, and when I got to Changeself I noticed something rather annoying. Your personal descripton stays exactly the same no matter what race's form you weave, so anyone who actually bothers to examine you is going to know it's an illusion right away, as a Tae'dae is definetly not going to have Dracnari scales, for instance.
So I was wondering, would it be possible to disable descriptions while this illusion is active? It competely ruins any use that one might get out of it.

She is a nimble faeling.
WEAVE CHANGESELF LUCIDIAN
She is a crystalline lucidian.
It's not like the first part stays the same. Just set an alias to change your description to match whatever race you pick.

I'm thinking why even have it if it's like this. The only real reasoning I can see being keeping it this way is if it's supposed to be a thiny constructed Illusion, considering it is so low in Illusions, and anyone who actually bothers to examine the person will be able to see through it.

It changes your race in HONOURS too. Most people HONOURS to check on race rather than looking at them. And in any case, you can solve the looking problem too *points to post above*

Aye, but that's alot of work to do for such a limited ability. Also, some people, myself included, would deffinetly end up losing their original description some how.

How hard can it be to write a couple of descriptions up for your fav races? Or just leave the description blank / really generic.
Besides, you'll be surprised how many people actually think that particular alt of mine is _not_ a faeling. Just the fact that you have the skill at all makes them wonder.

Record it in an alias. When I was Shiri I had a few different aliases for the changeself illusion, although it had an unhelpful consequence of dying whenever I logged out. And it's not like you have to make really in-depth descriptions for every race you want to transmute to. In any case, is there really a whole lot of point there? It's not like most people get a chance to realise what race they're fighting by honoursing them when they're logged off. It COULD be useful if you had a gem of transmutation or whatever it's called, so you could illusion yourself a mugwump while being a dracnari so Geb tries to staffpoint instead of hailstorm you...or...something. But it's not that great with OR without the desc thing.

Depends on when they do the honoursing too. The def lasts for a while _after_ you log off.

Bleh, fine. To quote Jack, "Fine, just crap all over my theorm."
"Go on, crap!"

Whoah, it does? Sweet.
EDIT: If they can do it for illusions, they can do it for defs, damnit.
Shamarah2005-04-07 19:28:50
All illusions do that. They don't go away when you log off, just when they expire.
Faethan2005-04-07 20:39:12
I think fortuna does that too. *hijacks thread to Shiri's def rant*

Its pretty much a useless spell and only worthwhile for RP. Doesnt matter what your descrip is your name doesnt change so nobody is fooled. Allow your name to be changed and that would be useful.
