Common Solution to Anorexia + Asthma

I was told that outside of focus mind there is no common (and I'd hardly call that common) way to break out of Anorexia + Asthma, although I was also told that it's decently hard to get both at the same time (in other words you'd have to be bad at curing to get both). Regardless of that, I think having a two part lock is sucky, so here's my suggestion.

Applying Allheale

This would take up salve balance and allheale balance, but if slickness was up it'd be no dice, allowing for a lock to be possible still if you had slickness + anorexia + asthma. It'd cure either Asthma or Anorexia, curing Asthma if you have both, it'll still cure if you have one but considering that it'd take two balances it probably wouldn't be used for that.

Flame away.

I personally just think focus mind should be dropped down lower in the discipline skill tree, maybe like virtuoso or somewhere in expert.
Binjo2005-04-13 12:14:13
Eh, my reason for suggesting it is my main character has no hope of getting anywhere close to focus mind in discipline, and so I figured that I'd rather thave a balance expensive heal than none at all, plus a two part lock no matter how hard it is to achieve (I hear there is no anorexia rune, etc.) shouldn't be possible but a 3 part one sounds better. Granted my character is an Aquamancer and I'll be learning Sweetfount soon, but the only situation where I could see it being of any use is if I was fighting in my demesne and got the afflictions then ran away (centered or something) and ast sweetfount, but honestl I'd raher stay in the room and heal and not rely on a skill I don't have yet, a fairly big demesne, having power for sweetfount, and having mana for deluge/healspring/sweetfount to heal.

No class but Nihilists and Moondancers (Hex Moondancers only, which being about one, means me) has access to both Anorexia and Asthma. Locks don't happen often here. There is also Invoke Green in Lowmagic, and two other skills in Highmagic that can cure it.

Nihilists don't have asthma in pacts so it would be only hex nihilists too I think.

They can randomly sting, and give asthma I believe.

It's already impossible venomlocking someone in Lusternia if he has focus mind, unlike in achaea... it really shouldn't be made even easier to get out.

Heh, that's right. However, you'd have to be incredibly lucky to sting and give asthma about the same time when your demon gives anorexia. smile.gif

Exactly, hence why locks are extremely uncommon in the first place.
Sylphas2005-04-13 15:54:21
Of course, if you do have hexes for some reason, allhex can lock anyone without focus mind.

But yeah, other than that, locks just don't happen.
Shiri2005-04-13 20:39:11
*struggle to get focus mind* It's highly annoying being hexlocked as part of a set of guildskills which is uncurable without transing another skill.

That's just how it is, but eh. (Wish you could cure paralysis with healing. That'd fix it. tongue.gif)
Gwylifar2005-04-13 20:57:34
Athletics also offers a way to break that lock, Hunger which cures Anorexia.
Unknown2005-04-13 21:08:49
And guardians have syphon/? (don't know the equivalent's name in Celestialism)
Shiri2005-04-13 21:36:31
I don't think the Celestines have an equivalent. (Technically they could trueheal, but that's a bit of an overkill there.)

And Gwylifar, can you do hunger while paralysed/impatienced too? That's the bit of the lock that bothers me, or I'd be able to get out of it with healing.
Daganev2005-04-13 21:42:00
If you don't buy credits, the max you can get is Expert in a skillset.

I find it odd, that one would be required to be super strong to get out of a simple lock, that could happen with one charybdon combo from a warrior.
Shiri2005-04-13 21:44:39
Well, you can buy IG credits on the market. It works for some.

And the chances of said charybdon lock going off are next to zero.

Eh, still right though.
Gwylifar2005-04-13 21:46:48
I don't even know, Shiri, as I have focus mind.
Shiri2005-04-13 22:13:03
Oh.

Well, I'll see if I can get a hexer and a warrior to test it later. :/
Alger2005-04-14 00:33:34
getting locked by charybdon isnt next to 0 its actually 0... no anorexia venom.

Shiri : No you cant do hunger if you are paralyzed.
Shiri2005-04-14 00:41:22
Oh yeah. *cough*

And right.

Still possible with hexlocks though. (Not that that'll ever happen to me, as only one combatant in the world uses hexes, and he's in my guild. ninja.gif)
