I take no credit for these two suggestions, as someone far smarter and cooler than me came up with them.
1) Geomancers can't meld in Plane of Water, Aquas can't meld in Plane of Earth. Make it so Hartstone can't meld the Glomdoring side of Ethereal and vice versa. The two environments are completely and totally at odds with one another. That would solve the whole "Entire-plane-is-a-demesne" issue we face.
2) Make the Ravenwood nondistortable. This is sort of a nobrainer... They can cut off our access in, but we can't stop them.

Shouldn't this be in Ideas?
Sylphas2005-04-15 18:53:34
When the Ravenwood becomes a functioning nexus, it will be undistortable, I'm sure. I'd dislike seeing it happen before that, but I can fully understand the reasoning.

Theoretically yes, but these are changes that need made now, and this is a far more likely place to be seen by divinities.

I'm not saying permanently make it undistortable until it's a nexus.. But make it undistortable for as long as we're going to need it. Once we're done with the ethereal segment of getting the commune, let it be distorted, and we can work on prime to move the Tree towards being a nexus. Or something.

Hartstone cant meld unless the forest is purified.
Jack2005-04-15 18:55:57
So you purify and then meld.
Woo!
Woo!
Nyla2005-04-15 18:56:48
I was just saying you had to forest before you can meld. Its not that they can just meld

Very good. I'm saying they shouldn't be able to purify it, like Geos/Aquas can't do on their opposing planes.
Arilyon2005-04-15 18:57:44
Even if I did taint Water, I still couldn't meld it. It says the nature of the place forbids it or some such. That would fix a lot of the problem with this whole situation if the same held true for the opposing faces of Ethereal. Just my opinion of course.

Hartstone draws their power from the ethereal plane. Aquamances dont draw theirs from the earth plane and vice versa

Hartstone draws their power from the Glomdoring part of Ethereal eh?
That's a fascinating argument.
Jack2005-04-15 18:58:56
Perhaps Hartstone draw their power from the Serenwilde section of the Ethereal Plane?
After all, I don't see taint-orientated skills in Druidry.
EDIT: Fastest poster in the West.

That just seems a very OOC way to deal with it. You need some reason that we suddenly can't distort the Ravenwood, and I can't think of any that fit that would be temporary, and then let you turn it into a nexus later. Maybe I'm just unimaginative.

The ethereal plane. Its all one plane. Until the planes become seperate there would be no reason why Hartstone and Crowstone wouldnt be able to meld either
Bricriu2005-04-15 19:00:43
Maybe because it would make sense, so Serenwilde can't just Pwn everyone by demesne/wisping into guards?
Jack2005-04-15 19:01:21
Yeah, I'm sure the Divine can find a way that makes sense, RP-wise, and stops Serenwilde just saying "HELL NO" and killing the Glomdorito's, repeatedly.

Perhaps the return of Gwyllgi strengthened the Tree to the point where it cannot be distorted? Or just make it a permanent change at this point. We *need* to get to Ethereal but Serenwilde can easily lockdown the place. It's a matter of at least offering us a fair shot.

It's all one plane, but the Tainted segment is completely different than the unTainted, on a supernatural level.
Sylphas2005-04-15 19:01:58
We can wisp without it being melded, try again. And last I heard, if we wisp into guards when you're in Faethorn or Glomdoring, it's the same as summoning into guards from neutral territory anywhere else.

Given how the entirety of the Ethereal is forest, that wouldn't make any difference.
Nyla2005-04-15 19:02:57
Seperate ethereal Glomdoring and Serenwilde from Faethorn
