So as I was driving home from the local Sprawl-Mart after buying some golf balls, I decided to count the Cow Crossing signs. Yes there is more then one within a close proximity to my house.

We have duck crossing signs not far from me, oh and signs with pictures of Koalas which mean, more or less "please try to not run over the aminals".

=\\ We have deer x-ing signs, because people actually hit deer here.

What's worse - I live on an island in the Gulf of Mexico.

I drove a trip to Melbourne from Sydney once… Yes, I drove it. I spotted some signs with Kangaroos on them, and was terrified for the entire trip, thinking at any moment one would boing out at me.

I've never seen Koala signs though... And I want to.

Ha. I've seen quite a few koalas up here in Queensland.

NOWHERE NEAR the amount you'd think would be about for the number of Koala Crossing signs though.
Skyla2005-04-16 06:43:05
Yeah, they must exist. Though I drove up to QLD last year and didn't see any either. We need photo evidence!

Not entirely accurate, as the koalas that are actually sitting in the branches aren't in danger.

Woot!

Unknown2005-04-16 10:26:12
I've never seen a koala before...

but to me, that doesn't look like a koala. It looks more like an evil baby with freaky ears/horns wrapped in cloth and clinging to a branch, ready to attack people who pass by.
Unknown2005-04-16 13:24:30
Yeah.. What do you think a koala is? Cute and harmless? unsure.gif
Nika2005-04-16 13:52:34
Some koalas spend their whole lives in trees.. Ever seen a koala run? It's not a pretty sight. laugh.gif

We drive to a lot of different places, around lakes, and into the bush.. there are a lot of interesting signs. Duck crossings, swan crossings, snake crossings, numbat crossings... No koalas over here, though. Funnily enough, no rabbit or fox crossings, either. biggrin.gif

I've never seen these supposed "badger bridges" they have in Germany, although I have seen "badger tunnels" that we have in England. They're kinda cute. I can't really imagine a badger traipsing down miles of road until it found a badger bridge to climb over though.

And the Aussies (plus Shiri) hijack my thread. Damn you this is about cows I say! Cows! Mooooooooo! *Runs before Munsia arrives.*
Shiri2005-04-16 14:25:48
That was creepy. I read that post, windowflipped, and saw Munsia arriving on CT. :/

There's a Koala sign in Lismore. Come visit me and I'll show you!
Skyla2005-04-17 05:48:31
You know I would, Jalain... but you frighten me.

*squeal* Cute!

We do have cow crossings over here, but.. they're not really that significant. There's millions of 'em.

Myponga Dam south of Adelaide has 100+ Kangaroos sitting there at dusk and dawn eating in the paddocks. Thats the time you really don't want to go down there.
The back roads to Victor Habour has Dairy Farmers and Famer Union cows. Thats not fun when they move them around for milking..
Then around Morphettville Racecourse there is horse signs.
Oh penguin signs, I see them at Victor Habour on Penguin? Island biggrin.gif
My favourite though is the old person sign, its like they are a rare sight to see.

I don't live right out in no where thats 10 minutes away from me
