Back to Common Grounds.

I just created Lusternia.org, and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out in putting some content up. I'd like it to be a great source of info for anything and everything related to Lusternia. It's got basically nothing so far, so any content to put there would be greatly appreciated. For example, charts of how many lessons it takes from skillrank to skillrank, details on all skills, etc. Also, if you'd like a link on it to your Lusternia fan site, lemme know and I'll put one. Ooer, and lastly, my favourite, get yourself an @lusternia.org email address -winkwink-. There will be absolutely no ads on this site, and absolutely no costs to join, though it does cost me some time and money to run so I'll be stressing the need for donations to be honest. -g-

I was under the impression that such fansites were hugely frowned upon and advertising them wasn't a good idea. This could be a false impression, but you should at least find out first.

I thought it was just the skillsets that were frowned upon?
Erion2005-04-17 18:38:22
I would kill someone who released the NC skillsets, ICly or OOCly. No one keeps those seperate, when skills come into play.
Daganev2005-04-17 18:46:16
Are you allowed to take lusternia.org without official permision?
jelani2005-04-17 19:44:24
Well, since noone wants skills posted, I will be posting details on all common skills, but nothing on guild skills as of this time. As for taking lusternia.org, I did message Estarra two months ago, but received no response. If IRE wants me to give up the domain, I will.
Manjanaia2005-04-17 20:44:20
I still don't get why people don't want skillsets posting. Everyone talks about them all the damn time anyway.
Unknown2005-04-18 00:43:47
We dont want skillsets because then we'd just turn into another Achaea where there's nothing really secret, i mean they had all their quests and such written out so even a novice could have some of the hardest honors quests under their belt so to speak.
jelani2005-04-18 00:47:42
I'm not gonna post any quests there, either. I'm not gonna do anything to ruin Lusternia, promise!! -g-
Daganev2005-04-18 00:48:05
Estarra has said time and time again that she does not want skills or quests posted anywhere.

Not even common skills.

I think there are many legitimate reasons for this, the main one to me being, that you should not just be able to start a new charachter with 100% perfect knowledge when everone else had to spend RL money and learn things based on RP to get the skills they have, and to then talk to people who they knew in the game to gather such information for themselves. That process, I think, is very important in a persistant online universe.
Sylphas2005-04-18 01:21:15
Then She needs to pull them from the MSN site, to start with, because a lot of the common skills are posted there.

Maaaaan.. Just after I make the LusterWiki, too?

This is the second time this kinda thing has happened to me. I made some Lusternia forums when the game first opened, and a few days later these ones opened.. Now I made a Wiki which only me, Lomodian and Sylphas seem interested, and Jelani brings out a site.

They whole Universe is out to get me! snub.gif

Oh, and I'm fairly certain Estarra will fry anyone who posts info for quests.

I've always held an opinion quite the opposite. If someone plans to save up money, or even in game lessons and credits to put into a skill, I think it's fair that they have an idea what they are doing. Is it fair, that someone would work so hard to take a guess and potentially be wrong, thus wasting the time and effort? I don't think that's right. As far as certain skills being kept secret (specificly guild skills).. Well, we ALL know if you have good enough friends you can find out anything you want. If you're one of the more important people in the relms with more friends and who people respect, and you tried to acquire such knowledge, you would probably be able to get it without flinching.

I argue that people should have a heads up on what they are going to invest in, similar to test driving a car. If the car won't run, or do what you would want it to for the price, you won't invest in it.

I have complete skill lists from the Moondancers (both Hexes and Healing) and Druids (both Dreamweaving and Runes). I got them from being all four of those to trans, but should I have to pay all those credits to know what I'd rather be?
Daganev2005-04-18 01:59:31
I use to think that way untill I actually bought credits.

Now I feel compelled to be involved in the guild and in lusternia's case, the city that I have put so much money into, and to make sure it goes the way that I find enjoyable. Besides, in an ever changing environment such as lusternia, lists can quickly become outdated and even misleading.

I was under the impression that people were going to post the AB files and the details of skills, but now that soeone said the MSN site has lots of skills, I see they don't mean that. And I'm also equally unsure as to what Estarra did NOT want posted.
Sylphas2005-04-18 02:03:59
Posting AB files is very iffy, since you learn a lot about the skill. Posting just the list itself tells you nothing you won't find out as soon as fight that class or become that class.
Tehn2005-04-18 02:05:28
I can't say I've actually bought my own credits, but I've had and used quite a few. I still think, anyone planning to make a sound investment, try an alt, or anything, shouldn't have no chance to know what the skills do. I remember on the achaea.cjb website, they had alot of skills posted there for the longest time and it was never a huge issue. Even when new skills came out, they found their way to websites. I think one reason that this hasn't happened in Lusternia is because the skillsets are so utterly different, and at release, everyone felt protective over their skills. Also, it's not ONLY a matter of deciding which skills you want to try yourself, but how far you want to go. Honestly, to all of you knights out there... how often have you used Puissance? I wish I had never invested in the skill, wether it would have saved me 2 lessons or 200 lessons, the skill is worthless to use. I have haymaker, why would I EVER use Puissance? This and similar situations lead me to have the opinion that we should have some form of heads up. You're not required to seek skill lists if you don't want to, but if you do why shouldn't you be allowed to?
Sylphas2005-04-18 04:39:06
Exactly. I'm buying 600 credits whenever I get the money, and I'm planning exactly how to spend each one. Thank the gods I have access to the skill lists for all the common skills, because then I can decide exactly what to get. I'm definitely not going to blindly spend on Environment hoping to get tumble. If I know where it is, I can decide if it's worth it. Same for any other skill someone might want. I want Aethersight, but for me, it's not worth going past scan until I get some other things. And I can look at guild skills, and be interested, but still not know what they do or how to counter them.
