Hi everyone! I have most recently exited the Portal of Fate, and I need some information. Is there a general consensus on the origination of Lucidians? Or perhaps, could someone describe to me about Taint? I know that Mandragorans/Glomdorings see Taint as 'good', and that New Celestians/Serenwilders see it as 'evil'. However, I need an objective, somewhat ooc idea of the Taint in order to prepare a good rp of it. Can anyone give me a few pointers? Spank you profusely!
Pupil Mox.
p.s. I'll flesh out my questions more when I get a reply. For some reason I ask better when I'm being taught something. Hehehe...

Well the lucidians thing I can't really help ya with cause my history of the realms is pretty sketchy, but I would recommend going through the library tab on the homepage with all the stories and stuff, they are actually a pretty good read.
The Taint is basically a destructive "aura" i guess you could call it that the geomancers use to meld an area into the proper setting to build what we call demesnes in the game. Each Demesne (forest, flood, taint) has a different effect on the land, for instance, the "taint" will kill all plant growth in the area, potentially hurting all the herbalists and alchemists ability to brew potions and refills.
It's actually pretty complex, I definately recommend you read the stories and the help files in game to build your own view on what each ability is.
I find this question actually a good one, and one that I personally find a "difficult" thing to answer. Others will chime in I'm sure.

They came from Xyl. They made a city, called Halifax. Glomdoring doesn't believe Taint exists. A lot of them argue Celest made it up, to fuel their zealotic citizens into anger for their civilization's greed.
Mwaha. Anyway. The Taint is an extention of Kethuru. A big fear has been, or was when Erion was a Celestine, if Kethuru returns, in full, He could take control of the Tainted. And it corrupted peaceful Shallamar, turning them into bloodlusting demons.

Mox? Funny, there used to be a person named Mox, I remember him.

Mox was a Celestine, I wonder where he went.

Oh yay, try to get information and get pounded into someones mold.

And, Lucidians are good friends of Trill. Both come from Hallifax, and are inclined to Air. Hallifax was a city of Air and Crystal. Not a whole lot is known, as to culture/guilds, beyond Aeromancers, their cosmic plane was the Vortex. Hmm. They're order, instead of chaos, like Gaud.
Shiri2005-04-26 00:30:23
Their cosmic plane was Continuum, not Vortex, Erion.

Read the histories, they're quite good. That's all that we had in the beginning, they were released one at a time, kind of like the pictures.
Karrah2005-04-26 04:43:27
The Vortex is Gaudi's cosmic plane.

Intersting, the way I once explained it is as follows.
If you hate Yogurt, Yogurt is just spoiled milk.
If you like Yogurt, Yogurt is just Yogurt.
Taint == spoiled.
Faethan2005-04-26 05:01:53
Taint = Kethuru + bad clams.

I actually think thats a clever metaphor, Daganev. For the Glomdoring/Serenwilde situation, anyway.
Daganev2005-04-26 05:18:28
Why thank you elryn.
That is how normal people can say that the Taint does not exist.

Normal people?
Daganev2005-04-26 05:22:10
People without dissabilities in detecting the Taint.
Elryn2005-04-26 05:23:48
Er, yeah... well, I like it. Milk = healthy nature. Yoghurt = taint+nature.

Yeah, it makes nature so much more yummy and interesting!
Hehehe...
