Rafael has been inactive until a week ago, he probably haven't ever seen Soulless being used. 
Well I'm comparing ur'guard with elementals and paladins with elementals, and paladins obviously come out stronger. At least in my personal experience so far, since I like to base my opinions on practice rather than on theory if possible.
