A question about offensive artifacts

This may be a stupid question, but can you attach wounding and elemental runes to mage staves or druid cudgels to affect their impact? That is, to affect the damage they do via associated abilities in druidry or the mancies?
Athana2005-04-28 14:31:55
nope
Murphy2005-04-28 14:31:55
only if you use the attack swing cudgel @target, which does bugger all, trying doing a WP on your cudgel sometime
Athana2005-04-28 14:34:21
You can only use scepters which just increase the damage done by your staff. by 10, 15 or 20%
Elryn2005-04-28 15:59:29
Ah, nuts... thanks.

The artifact runes are intended for knight weapons. Generally speaking, when we refer to "weapons", we only mean the stuff used by knights, and as archetypes expand it will probably only apply to archetypes that use physical combat and hit people with the item (as opposed mainly using it to cast spells).
Elryn2005-04-28 16:42:59
Aye, alright. I just wasn't sure, because our cudgels do physical damage and bleeding.

But it depends on the source, got it. happy.gif

Do you have to wield the sceptres? I hope not..
Ceres2005-04-28 19:34:02
You used to.

Fear my issue powers.

Now you can wear them.
Yiaxu2005-04-28 19:59:55
How do you wear a sceptor? biggrin.gif
Shiri2005-04-28 20:01:36
You don't wear sceptres, but if you think about it, mages wouldn't be able to use shields if they had to wear sceptres, so it just wouldn't work.
Revan2005-04-28 20:01:46
SYNTAX: wear scepter

We've had several requests for making mage staves permanent which we've always turned down. There are several reasons but the main one is what if a mage (or druid) forgets the staff skill? Knights can use their runed weapons regardless of which knight guild they're in and even keep using a runed weapon if they forget knighthood. In any case, the sceptre is the "magic user" item which certainly helps with the damage of staves. I'm not sure if adding more damage on top of what the scepters give could be justified.

I'll go Aqua again if you introduce another way to boost staff damage cool.gif
Revan2005-04-28 22:19:54
Increase geo staff damage. Aqua staffs are perfectly fine the way they are.
Terenas2005-04-28 22:22:33
Agreed, increase Geomancer's staff but make chasm stoppable by being proned. biggrin.gif
Shiri2005-04-28 22:24:00
Or anything else that stops judgement, perhaps. sleep.gif

I'm actually hoping that the Geomancers requested in their Envoy report to tone down Chasm a little by making it possible to stop it besides forcing the caster to do something or leaving the room. Then again, I'm hoping Sacraments users to ask trueheal to not immediately give eq/balance back right upon casting..
Shiri2005-04-28 22:40:25
Can't YOU envoy that? You can envoy stuff other than your own, right?
