We should get changeself or an equivalent as a racial ability.

I don't like looking like a dwarf.

Then changeling into something else. Problem solved. Race should be a bit more than just stats. Either you're willing to be a dwarf and take looking like one, or you want to look pretty, and are willing to have ass stats.
Shiri2005-05-05 20:54:17
Psh, it costs 2000 credits, let 'em have a bit of harmless fun. To a changeling, race ISN'T more than just stats. They're a weird shapeshifting being that takes the form that suits them best at the time.

It's not a matter of harmless fun actually. Your race allows some classes to judge what strategies to use against them, hence making it somewhat useful for combat. Artifacts should grant unique abilities, not those possessed by certain archetypes.

This would be an ok idea if it didn't steal such from illusions so no.
Revan2005-05-05 21:03:16
Doesn't a cameo cost 1k? Not 2k...

Correct. Yay for that too because I'm getting one at the end of this month *can't wait*

Can we also let Changelings speak other racial languages or something? It pisses me off when one day I can understand someone, and the next day I can't. Doesn't make much sense.

And I wish I could change my appearance, without changing my racial stats, it's such a bother. I can understand that people tailor there tactics around the race they are fighting, so why not allow changelings to change more often? Once per month is ridiculous.

And why do we have to have a one change per month limit? It doesn't make sense ICly or RPly. And the only reason I can guess, is because Achaea did it (that is put a limit), we must do it as well. Can we like shorten it to once every game day? Why would a changeling only be able to morph once a long month? They're a damned changeling.
Drago2005-05-06 01:40:25
Maybe the effort is too stressful on the changeling's body to change more then once a month?
Ialie2005-05-06 01:43:00
I agree they should be able to change more than once a month.
Alger2005-05-06 01:47:18
more than once a month only if it didnt heal them
Elryn2005-05-06 01:49:08
I was considering getting a cameo for a while, to help with levelling... but I don't really want to give up on Faelings just yet.

Plus having a cameo means you have to abandon most forms of racial roleplay.

A month though? A day I could understand. I often want to change races for RP reasons (such as Faeling) but not willing to do it, because I'll be stuck in that form for an entire month. It's irritating. I just want a little wiggle room for RP. I will loathe having my description read "He is a stout dwarf and has assumed the form of a Faeling.... blah blah blah"

On the contrary, having a cameo is great for racial roleplay. Guy I used to know (who I can't mention the name of because he doesn't want it to be known has a cameo) used to do great stuff with it.

Wait, is that what it appears as now? That you are a changeling dwarf, but you assume other appearances?

Would that be my brother? Heh.

No. I don't want my description to read that. My description (usually, sometimes I forget to change it) matches the race I've assumed. Often times I want to be other races like Faeling, Elfen, etc, that are useless to me, but I still want to assume the race for RP reasons. I can't, because then I'm stuck like that for the entire month, ruining the whole point of owning a cameo for RP reasons.

I feel like the only reason it is limited an entire month versus a day, is because "Achaea did it that way." It wouldn't really affect much, nor would it be unbalancing in anyway, to allow changelings to change once per day (or to a lesser extent, at a whim). More cameos would be sold, because it'd actually be useful for RP, and a more enjoyable artifact.
Sylphas2005-05-06 02:05:12
I really don't want it to be possible to look like a faeling or something, and yet still have dwarf stats. That makes absolutely no sense, outside of illusions.

That's why I suggested how often you can change should be increased. If I have a desire to be a Faeling for RP, I should not be forced to remain a Faeling for 25 hours. sad.gif

I think on Achaea, it was possible to "soul-rez" yourself with their gems of transmutations. Dunno if it's possible here, and most people don't wear their cameos.
