Alright! I'm going ahead with this instead of waiting. Indicate your interest in The Soulless Game 5 here biggrin.gif

Also, I've had an idea since the first game (of which I wasn't a part) for assigning everyone a few attributes and enabling "clues" to be found after successful Soulless attacks (my role as a Soulless in TSG2 gave me the impression, which hasn't changed, that Soulles have an advantage ... and the clues might help to even things out without making it too complicated). I was thinking something like this:

dark/light hair
tall/short height
a/b other attribute (not gender, I don't think)

So we'd have players like the following example:

Shiri (dark hair, short, b )
Lyren (light hair, tall, b )
Kashim (light hair, short, a )
Rauros (dark hair, tall, b )

After an attack, maybe there'd be a strand of dark hair found where it shouldn't be ... which could implicate, in the above example, either Shiri or Rauros. Of course, maybe one of the two is a Soulless and the other is a Seer/Guardian. The clues might be from the same Soulless or might be from different ones who are still alive, but not the same clue from the same person twice. So if you'd get two clues of light hair, there'd be two light haired Soulless. Shiri thinks this'd make things too difficult for the Soulless, but something could happen where there's a clue of dark hair ... only 1/5 darkhaired Soulless but both Seers could be darkhaired. Clues could add both method and madness. halo.gif

So, while you're indicating your interest, also indicate whether you'd like to play with the clues or not. If you see obvious problems with the clues idea, also state that, though. If a majority wishes to play with clues, we'll do that. If it's even votes or less, no clues.

Edit:
Going by what's being said so far, unless you say you're against clues, I'll assume you're okay with 'em.

I'd like to play, but I'd like to play in the traditional way. The game seems a little slanted towards the soulless as it is, but that might shoot it pretty heavily in the elders' favor.
Shiri2005-05-13 03:35:14
Same as Xavius.

Dangit, didn't get my ninja. *peer Tsuki* Didn't say so quick enough!
Navaryn2005-05-13 03:35:20
I'm in.

As for clues... I guess we could give it a try. Personally, i'd prefer that to that 'Blight' thing *shrug*

I think with 3-4 attributes it could keep things significantly random enough to work. Everyone would have them, so if there are 20 players about half would be light haired and half dark haired. That's not giving things away too much, I don't think.

Heh this could turn into a game of 'Guess Who!'.

I'm up for it, with or without clues.

But then when you get the second clue that has a long nose too, you're down to a fourth of the population.

If you wanted to do this with clues, you need to have a relatively large chance of getting a clue from someone else that did something that night (Seers or Guardians). That way you can't know if you have evidence of a Soulless, or if you're suspecting people from your team.

Another way to make it more interesting is just to add more roles. There are some really cool webpages that have a whole bunch of roles to toss into a Mafia-esque game. One that you might consider, because it's fairly simple, is a Watcher. They count as being on the Elder's side, and whomever they pick to act upon doesn't get to do whatever they were supposed to do that night.

If he watches a Soulless, no one dies, if he watches a Seer, that Seer doesn't get the information, if a Guardian, no saving for that night, and so forth. The thing is, the Watcher doesn't get to know anything about the person he's watching, so unless he picks a Soulless, then he doesn't see the visible effects.

The only other change this requires is that the Soulless elect whom to attack, but also who does the attacking. This way the watcher only stops the night killing if he watches the assassin. This prevents him from watching the same person over and over and the Soulless never getting to kill anyone.

That sounds kind of complicated but it isn't really. Soulless pick a killer. Watcher picks someone who doesn't get to do anything for one night. The end.

Anyways, that's just my suggestion. I'm also interested in playing, in case you didn't figure it out.

I'm in.. Not too fussed over clues so either way

Guess Who only has 5 people out of 25 (?) who have orange shirts. That's why I was thinking 3 attributes, evenly divided in the population, then random selection of the roles from the entire population. The clues would/could also be for any of the (assumably) 5 soulless. So just because you get clues of dark hair and tall doesn't automatically mean they're both attributes of the same Soulless, just ones who are still alive as of the time the clues are given.

I'm feeling eviller and eviller as I explain this more... pureevil.gif

... but I do think it could work and be fun! igetit.gif

I'm in. Clues sound cool, as does the Watcher or whatever. It'd be nice if elders had more to go on then random guessing, or trying to guess/second guess/third guess everyone's actions. It's fun if some intrigue develops, but it can also just end up a mob going at random.

I blame Jack for the chaos, CHAOS I TELL YOU.
But yea, burn the heretics, leave no evidence.
Not playing, just making the chaos all perty.
I wasn't even here.
Your a figment of my imagination

I wanta play. Clues sound interesting...

I'm in with clues.

Wanna play, and clues make it even more fun
Shoshana2005-05-13 14:43:58
I wanna play too, clues would be interesting. And hey, if it makes things too easy for one side then the game will be over quickly and we can start a new one without the clues, so it works out either way biggrin.gif.
Xenthos2005-05-13 15:19:32
Would like to play
Shamarah2005-05-13 17:59:33
I'm not playing because I always forget about this game, but a good way to balance the game if you think it's in favor of the Soulless is to make a small group of people who know each other are Elders.
Laysus2005-05-13 18:07:54
Sign me up!
Archthron2005-05-13 20:22:13
I am playing, and I do like clues, and also I think that having the Soulless choose the attacker would make that even better because they could decide whose traits might be left behind. And also, if the guardian is guarding the person they attack, there should be a chance of either the Soulless or Guardian clue left behind to make it even more tricky.
Silvanus2005-05-13 21:03:39
Play. Ok with clues.
