I just wanted to thank the GMs for having a little fun with my one-day characters this week.
The first was Vito, the dwarven lover of ale, who was questing after the "Beer Elementals". I noticed that Meleris, Ardrak, and Miakoda told me there were no such things. It's too bad Gloomdoring kicked me out before I could ask their expert.
Second, and perhaps more fun, was the "atheist" Yor, who went around defiling a few shrines, making himself an enemy to all four communities, until Raezon, Hajimin, and Shiiki decided to fight back. It turns out Yor ended up becoming a little pawn of the gods, and he ended up spending time in Raezon's stomach talking to the pets of the gods until he had no choice but to commit suicide. I wish I could share the log of that, but I use the Java client.
I usually only play casually, because I don't like the leveling process. I'm just glad that sometimes the gods will react more towards some interesting quirks than level, city, and guild.
Thanks guys.

Let me guess.. you were wanda too?
Unknown2005-07-18 00:57:18
doubt it, wanda had trans planar and a few other things (adept in both guild skills) which woulda required creddies

Wanda and Anna.
(Wanda might have stayed but Serenwilde had some restrictive rules, like being threatened to be outguilded if she kept going Astral though it never hurt me. So she left. I was going to come back for a few days to play at being an artisan and maybe do free furniture, but sadly the commune leader enemied me for "creating stools" and I couldn't even speak to the former members--and Mandragora kept threatening to beat her, I guess for being an elf).
Sadly, the only way to be a minor commodities character without bashing is to buy credits and then sell some for cash. I must be the only guy to sell credits for 2500 or giving some away.
I'll probably wait until 2006 and maybe someday recreate Vito with maybe Beer Elementals as pets.
Unknown2005-07-18 02:24:07
Creating those stools was annoying, there was no way to remove the stupid things . Still, it was kinda funny.
Rhysus2005-07-18 07:27:13
You weren't enjoyable. At all.

What was wrong with her going to astral?

Yeah I want to know that too. I know historically we are against the outer planes and such, but plenty of other Serens go there and I wasn't aware of there being a policy in any of guilds against it.

I heard the Seren thought it made them look like idiots or something along those lines.
Gregori2005-07-18 10:10:30
It wasn't that she/he/it was going to astral. It was that She/he/it was going to astral repeatedly and getting killed every 2 minutes. Excuse being she was blocked from drawing power so was going to get it on Astral instead. The Guild asked her to stop doing this as it was a callous waste of her life and she agreed to do so until the guild leaders left, when she went back to doing it.
The enemying was because she/he/it decided to leave furniture all over the commune. Now that I know who the other characters are I have no sympathy at all. If you want to play an annoying character who delights in griefing through idiocy then you get what you deserve.

I did stop doing the astral thing once seriously asked, but it did disappoint me. If you are instantly ressurected after your killed, there's no harm. My goal was to increase the character's power reserves as needed. That character was trying to be helpful to others in the commune. For instance, I could have tesseracted into
As far as the furniture goes, this is what I don't understand. I created maybe 2 or 3 stools in the commune, just so somebody could sit. It definately wasn't a spam thing at all. So I don't fathom that extreme reaction--unless communes are going to be anti-furniture. The only thing I wish I didn't create was a chair in the laboratory, but that was because artisanship was new and I didn't realize furniture couldn't be moved.
Oh well... As far as "idiocy" goes, I think creating a few one-shots can be fun if done well. I apologize if it caused you grief, but I don't think anybody disliked the elemental stuff, it got some laughs, and I guess the gods had a little fun with a troublesome atheist. (Which I doubt a couple of dead rats would serious set back any orders).
To be honest, I kind of wish there was a little more incentive to come in casually and roleplay without having to log in for 2-4 hours a day, but I guess it's the nature of the beast.

The problem with "casual roleplay" as you describe it, is that certain types of uncaring and goofy behaviour (such as for example your "beer elementals") really are quite ludicrous and deduct from the overal credibility of the game as a whole. Especially when previous posts concerned two important political subjects in the form of a treaty with the slavers of Acknor and supposed falsehoods presented in earlier posts.
I admit that the community of Lusternia generally holds its players to a higher degree of credibility and roleplay then most other IRE realms, however, this is as most of the players prefer it and there are counless threads all over the forums that support these opinions. Side effects of this however, are that nearly everything will be looked at from a much more "rigid" and "real life" point of view then comparable IRE realms. For example, if in today's biological society someone would offer the suggestion that beer might actually be alive and follow the same evolutionary rules as other biological organisms, he would get some very odd looks before he would kindly be requested to stop wasting everyone's time and perhaps go outside and watch the birds twitter.

I would not waste the effort to tell him to go outside and watch the birds twitter. I'd give him a beer, laced with heavy amounts of CN-.
That said, a bit of my soul died upon reading the news post about the beer elementals. It was rediculous, and sad. As for Wanda, I cannot begin to express how irritating it was to listen to Ibaesha complain about the stool erected in her shop that clashed with the room description and had NO purpouse being there.
And RPing an athiest, while amusing, is just plain brain-dead. That's like saying there isn't water. Or air.
On that note, if you honestly believe no one was bothered by the beer elemental crap, stop the intake of non-existant water and/or air.

I thought Rhysus' reaction to the beer elementals was very funny.. Everytime something like this happens I invision a little pulsing vein on a chibi-rhysus.
I think overall, you just made yourself look stupid, because you weren't really accomplishing anything or doing any damage, so you might as well have not done anything.

Aye. When the day is done, you've not left a mark. You won't be remembered. If anything, you've caused a minor annoyance.
Honestly. Who are we going to remember in 2-3 RL years, thinking back? Maybe people like Rexali and Rafael. We'll remember Visaeris, only because he'll still be here haunting us endlessly.
Stangmar2005-07-18 15:54:19
Phred, let me phrase this in the nicest way possible.
I think the beer elementals were silly.
EDIT: I edited Richter's edit with something that didn't make me look so idiotic, but doesn't flame anybody.

You have no grounds to call anyone an idiot Stangmar, and no I am not siding with Phred.
