Beauty arrives and sifts through the cold
While vespers of mists arrive from legends untold
Even in thoughts, we exist the same
You and I- the parody of blame

Dark hearted orb that rules the night
Erases the color from our sight
Red is yellow and gray- white
And we decide how much is too tight

Even the shadows that dance along the graves
Mirrors retrospection from hidden bays
Daughter and mother- women of time
They march in a straight line

Douse this fire that burns like blood
Spent across the fallen warrior's son
Myths become real and fact becomes false
In this world of the beating pulse

Ride against the sun and shield my eyes
Become salvation suddenly realized
Macabre and innocuous- you fool only yourself
Even when you walk with delirious stealth

Gods forget their names and mortals become divine
Their words holding nothing but lies
A razor-sharp blade bares its chest to the world
A paradox of onyx and pearl

But I regress for this moment with my tongue
To gather more truth in my lungs
We will drown- floating to the end of fate
Hung upon strings like worms used for bait

Come closer- closer still
Beyond that window sill
Cry out for serenity and lose hope
While you read destiny's note

And they'll watch until you weep
Marching then to a different beat
The drum will play with its voice
And surrendur to the burdening noise

You'll raise your out-stretched hand
Hoping that someone will take you to a new land
One with golden leaves and sunset hues
With enough passion for simply you

Even then, what could you possibly do
To replace the void left from truth
Fill it with lies, you say
Before turning and going on your way

And I'll watch- sitting here until dawn
And I'll listen to her comforting song
While she casts amber hair across the sky
And wondering where you went last night

Perhaps, love is simply cruel
Making each of us into fools
Crafting our skin and our bones into ink
To write a lullaby of chain links

It will bind us together and weigh us down
Pulling our bodies as one to the ground
Our wings will be clipped and torn from our backs
Becoming the heart's curving maps

Even then- even then you'll pull the shadows in
And pray that what you do isn't a sin
Even then- even then I'll smile and watch
As you stop screaming to pause

The riddles will become oblique
As we listen to our heart beats
One by one, each of them will fail
Before given a chance to speak their tales

I regress- simply the same
I will forget these names
Throw them to the breeze
While I walk down this road for some peace.

Even then- I find you.
