Envoy Transparency

One thing I've noticed with recent changes is that there seems to be some frustration expressed with the level of communication between Envoys and their Guilds. I think a lot of us can agree that it's important that the guilds stay informed about what the Envoys are telling the Divine, and vice versa.

However I also think it's important that Envoys be allowed to include unpopular opinions, if they feel it's necessary. I think this is part of their duty and that's very likely why they get the current amount of privacy.

With that in mind, I've come up with a change that I think would satisfy both parties.

All members of the Guild over GR15 are now able to read their guild's envoy report.

This works on the assumption that the leaders of the guild/people that get that high are going to be mature enough to deal with comments that may result in "nerfs". This adds a needed level of transparency to the process, while still providing a decent shield against backlash due to unpopular opinions.

Thoughts?

Being that envoy reports are emailed in, there's no in-game system to automatically grant access to read the reports upon reaching a certain guild level. However, there's nothing stopping the guilds from implementing this type of policy. It sounds good to me and I would encourage as much envoy-guild communication as possible.

That's probably a faulty assumption. Not to mention there may be quite a few guild members who could offer excellent input who are of a lower guild rank. There's really nothing stopping the envoy from posting on the guild newsboard (or some guild clan) what he or she is thinking about putting in the envoy report and asking for input.

GR15 is really hard to get to don't forget. I think the envoy should be available to GR3 +

Edit: Man I took ages posting that laugh.gif

I've already made a policy that any Envoy who isn't posting each and every change to a project created specifically for the compilation of the Envoy report will be immediately and without question dismissed from the post. You should encourage your guild to do the same.

Ah, forgot about projects. That's a great idea!
Daganev2005-05-18 18:57:50
That is an excelent idea

And gr15 is not that hard to get to if your an ebonguard tongue.gif
Manjanaia2005-05-18 18:58:45
Why not?
Terenas2005-05-18 19:04:26
It is so hard for Envoys to post their reports on the guild board in the first place? I often ask any current members around to see if they have anything they'd like to suggest in addition to other Envoys that share the same skills as ours. It works much better when you have more people that knows what the heck the Envoys are doing IMO.
Daganev2005-05-18 19:09:06
Nokraenom, you can consider yourself influential.. the ebonguard now has project 10 running. Even though we don't have an envoy

and if your an ebonguard, you can read GHELP ADVANCMENT and see why its not so hard to get to gr15
Richter2005-05-18 19:09:46
Sure it is Dag. It's going to take them forever.

And that's a good idea, with making the envoys have a project. I think I'll implement that!

Edit: ninja'ed!
Manjanaia2005-05-18 19:10:01
Oh the tasks aren't too bad, but doesn't take a bab load of GFs to get them that far? Meaning only a few will be favoured that far.

Ah I was under the impression that they were submitted via an ingame system. Well I'm glad to see that you encourage this.. Now we just need to get all the guilds to implement rules requiring this biggrin.gif

Well from what I thought, envoy reports were supposed to be ooc, but sure how ooc it's supposed to be. If people could see the report even at GR 15, the news would spread and people would bitch anyhow. Either way, Evnoys need to do more with talking to people from their guild to see what skills need changes. My opinion is that underused and undervalued skills should be made to be a little more useful.

(On another point, less pointless complaining on the irc channel about envoys would be nice too.)

Once you reach gr5 you can guildfavour... so the GM guildfavours will probabbly be reserved for people above gr10 etc.

if your an alt of an ex GM, it shouldn't take you more than 30 days to get to gr18

If I understood this sentence correctly, it just screams ALT ABUSE to me.
Richter2005-05-18 20:21:23
Doesn't look like you understood. tongue.gif

He meant if you already know everything (I mean, what, are you going to RP -not- knowing anything), you should be able to complete the tasks quickly.
Lisaera2005-05-18 21:36:36
Yes, envoy reports are OOC, but projects can be OOC too, and if you need to post them somewhere IC like the guild newsboard you can change the wording of them and speak metaphorically in order to make them IC (I will be suggesting that the Gods "improve our ability to resist the influence of heat when exercising our athletic fitness" rather than "I'm asking for fitness to be upgraded to 50% heat damage resistance so we can pwn some Aquas omg!").
Unknown2005-05-19 01:36:42
Bad idea about the gr15, good general idea about accountability and transparency. A project is the way to go.

Good. You restored my faith in the giant rotting undead bear.
