Hello all! My brother and I are wanting to enter the realms as brothers, complimenting each other's skills and advancing together. Can anyone offer us any advice or clarity on which archetypes are the best in terms of "warriors"? Also. I am brand new here and would just really like to know how to get started. Please throw in anything you find valuable to a newbie.

To be completely biased, I think if you one of you became an ebonguard faeling, and the other a shadowdancer faeling that would compliment itself. The Shadowdancer's fae can help in defending and bashing while the ebonguard can lay down the damage. The faeling also keeps you the same race to ensure that you are brothers.
Another option is for one of you to be a tae'dae and the other a furrikin, since those two are a natural pair.
If your mostly interested in bashing, perhaps a magnagoran pair might work also as they currently have the easiest methods of leveling up.
However, if one of you is going to be a warrior, be aware that its very expensive from a credit perspective to be affective as a warrior and might want to try druids or guardian classes instead.

By "warriors", I assume you mean the class itself? And by "archetypes", you mean guilds? If that's the case, I find Ur'Guard to be one of the best warrior guilds, with all of the bonuses (putrefaction, Lich, carrion). Although Ebonguard with Crow Totem seems to work in a similiar manner (I'm unfamiliar with the Crow skillset).
If you mean you want two classes that compliment each other and make for a very good bashing team? An igasho ur'guard deals, statistically, the most damage, and can maintain a very high amount of health, even at low levels. However, warriors are not the greatest classes in the world, by far. But I find them to be very high up.
In terms of pure bashing, you'ld want one to be a Mugwump druid, the other as a mugwump or merian mage. Druid's staffcast purely out-does every other type of damage, as far as bashing goes. And as a mugwump, the level 2 equilibrium just increases your damage out-put. A mage or a second druid is suggested, (merians have lvl 1 eq recovery) as they have an ability to cast 2 reflections on someone - thus, someone with a + eq bonus would be advantageous for this job.
In theory, two igasho ur'guard will be best to start with. The damage output, the con (maxes out at 25, something easily hit. Weathering is +1 con, putting con to 18. +1 from food (A hero's fete is best, as it gives +1 to all stats). 19. Yellow is +1, putting it at 20. Add in that your average astral basher (reportedly) carries 2 DTFs (That's +4 con), you're at 24. If my memory serves, somewhere down the lines you can manage to pick up another +1, if you try hard enough. Coupled with the Tosha Blessing and the Life Blessing, Igasho out-class anything as far as tanky goes. And the lvl -2 balance isn't anything horrible - actually, it's not that difficult to ignore.
Two Mugwumps, druids (Blacktalon/Hartstone) are high up on the powerbashing possibilities. While you lose the reflection capabilities of their mage counter-parts, they have the capability, once in the upper levels (We're talking level 80, 85 or so), with both staffcasting, of absolutely INSANE damage to mobs.
Anything other than that, every city has 3 archetypes. Guardian, Warrior, Mage. Each can compliment the other. If the Warrior is bashing, the Guardian can chant puella, which will heal them. The Mage could illusion the warrior. If the Guardian is bashing, the Warrior can puella them (Although it's a rediculous setup that I'd not advise), or the mage could illusion. Although with the damage staffcast does in comparison to cosmicfire, I'd suggest the mage bashing with the guardian puellaing. Sadly, Puella will never keep up with illusion in this aspect, so the Mage should generally be illusioning. The same can basically be applied to forestals, except Wiccas (if my memory serves) have no real way to heal someone else (although Stag totem does have med kit - which, if I'm told correctly , has it's own balance and works like a health vial? dunno for sure).
In other words, it's a matter of preference. There's a few ways you can go about it.
EDIT: The above does not require any LARGE amounts of credit purchases. In fact, none would be needed at all, if you've no mind "farming" honors quests for the gold (Some give 5,000 gold, others give 3,000, some less). This set up would allow for insane astral bashing, at least the two igasho (until level 80, 85) then going two druids (Blacktalon is probably best - Serens are generally hunted on Astral), would allow for you to essentially own Astral. The gold drops will be numerous and very rich. However, note, the class switch from warrior->druid will be nasty. Very nasty. But, with proper planning, one can trans out your bonecrushing, planar, herbs and have enough gold/credits for when you make that switch. Herbs is my suggested tradeskill, as it has 0 input cost and decent gains per herb (especially with sparkleberry - only found on Astral).

Once in the upper levels (We're talking level 80, 85 or so), both are capable of staffcasting, because, as I said before, druid's cudgel does absolutely INSANE damage to mobs.
Druids can't reflect.
Erion2005-05-20 20:22:20
Oi, see, I forgot Druids don't have illusions.
Erion2005-05-20 20:24:37
Mm, falsity fixed. Anything else? And can I get a confirmation on how Med-kit works? Just curiousity. Does it act as a second method of healing? Works on it's own balance, and heals as much as a sip? Or does it use health balance, and heal more? I can't remember, s'been so long.
Richter2005-05-20 20:28:50
I like Dag's idea with the two specialized faelings, that would be neat to see.
Also, you might want to consider a class that has skills that you can use on one another, like reflect, or whatever that healing spell is that you can use on other people.
If this has already been said, well... I didn't read all the posts.

Pfft. I could have written ten, twenty swear words and Richter never would have seen 'em. Punk.
Sylphas2005-05-20 20:34:06
Medicinebag, you mean? Heals more than a sip, not double, I don't think, but I haven't tested. Works on health balance. Costs 8 power, can be used 10 times.
Erion2005-05-20 20:41:04
Ah. Gimped!
Daganev2005-05-20 22:13:31
only problem with the mage/druid idea is that they can't tank damage all that well.
And by 'warrior' I think he ment combat not the warior archytpe, so I think they would be a bit annoyed with 'questing' for gold.

Erion2005-05-20 22:15:37
That's why I gave both examples. And tanking is irrelevant with a mugwump mage casting illusion on the druid, who'd be attacking. As long as they played it safe, they ought to be totally fine.
Erion2005-05-20 22:16:23
Questing for gold is one option. They can bash like a mofo for it, or one can just buy credits. I just offered it as an alternative.
Terenas2005-05-20 22:22:05
Nothing that hasn't been said before. But there are three ways in which you can advance in levels- influencing, questing, or hunting. Anyone can do quests so that's pretty much a given. Influencing is best for non-warriors since they usually have high charisma and can net very good experience from just influencing city/commune guards. Warriors aren't that good at hunting on the lower levels due to horrible accuracy and damage with weapons unless you bought OOC credits to spend, then it'd be a lot easier.
Mages and Guardians are great at hunting at the lower levels, fairly fast too. Warriors are great at the higher end since they can tank extremely well, on top of getting more chances at criticals with double swings.
Lastly, don't listen to what they say, join the Serenguard! You get a lot more choices to customize your character. Choose between Moon or Stag totem, Blademaster or Bonecrusher, or Highmagic and Lowmagic, in addition to a host of possible tradeskills.

Moon and Stag have very little for a powerbasher, that isn't outweighed by something in Necromancy or Crow. Lowmagic is available to Blacktalon and Ur'Guard, the two guilds I mainly suggested, as are any of the trade skills available to Serenguard (And alchemy is thrown in, if you go BT). Don't shamelessly boast your guild.
My major suggestion is two igasho ur'guard, for the insane con and strength. The balance isn't THAT noticeable (at least, when I see them go at it). Then use your free reincarnation to go Blacktalon Druid for the both of you (at level 80, 85). Hope you saved your gold from Astral, or don't mind spending some OOC cash on credits. It's nice to save either way, the fewer credits you buy the better, IMO.
And influencing isn't charisma-dependant here. Never has been. + equilibrium (either one or two) is all that matters. The faster your internet connection, the less lvl 2 is necessary in comparison. Although it moves along nicely.

aye terenas, thats why I suggest ebonguard and shadowdancers, specialized faeling are much better than specialized elfen for this situation.
However again, the areas around magnagora are much more suitd for leveling and killing and gaining gold.

Damn, you caught on.
Actually, haven't you heard, Daevos claims Serenguards > ur'Guards now. Join us! We have um, Alchemy!
Erion2005-05-20 22:41:05
...Serenguard don't have Alchemy. Punks. And how are you guys more powerful? =\\ Although, I guess Ancestral Curse is just NASTY. Given it's like Contagion, except Contagion can be blown away, Curse can't. Why not put in a lovely little mage ability, so when they flood/taint a room, it breaks it's connection Nature, and thus Stag/Moon cannot hold their curses there? Shrug. Makes sense to me! Or maybe a Celestialism/Nihilism ability, which simply breaks up the control by a lower-plane denizen. Iunno.
"The shimmering figure of Raziela appears, a smile on Her face. Opening out her arms, a pink glow suffuses the room momentarily, before fading, dispersing the marks of the Lower Planes."
"Putrid dark mists congeal into the form of Nifilhema, a wicked grin on Her lips. With a delicate flip of Her wrist, a golden hook releases a piece of Her flesh. The mists maintaining the form disperse, shattering the marks of the Lower Planes."
Shoot, slap a 5 power cost on it, and let it break demesnes, too.
Power to the Cosmic Guardians!

You really should consider roleplaying considerations as well. What kind of life do you want to lead? What kind of fights do you want to fight and die for? What kind of goals do you want to pursue? What kind of work do you want to spend your time doing?
