Perhaps make the curses compliment each other? Like, if you have, say, death and chaos, they'll start "working together". Like, your afflictions will come at the same time, for example, but be a bit more.. er, icky? *shrug*. Or knowledge and harmony would syphon some of your exp each time you lose a guildskill. That sort of thing. Feedback?

How about karma still sucks, and should be taken out?
Shiri2005-05-28 12:18:42
Karmic curses are very easy to remove, eh.
Unknown2005-05-28 12:58:32
Too easy. I don't like any of it.
Malicia2005-05-28 13:14:31
If anyone in Magnagora gets cursed, their bashers will hunt for them and pass over corpses to offer for karma. It's a nice thing, but it makes karma cursing someone a waste of effort. Blessings are great though.
Unknown2005-05-28 13:19:01
Blessings are great to have, but they're for the most part too random to be well balanced and I think the game would be better without them.
Acrune2005-05-28 14:35:32
I dunno, I kinda like my knowledge and war blessing together
Unknown2005-05-28 14:59:59
Of course you like it at the time if it helps you

On a random note, knowledge increases my cudgel damage just a bit more than war does. Only like 3 points more, but it's also giving me more mana. I'm sure as a Merian it would be noticable more potent.

Karmic curses are a very interesting concept, if you look at them the way I do.
In Lusternia, there are two ways to gain experience: Fighting and Questing. Thus, you end up with many people who only fight and hate questing, or who only quest and hate fighting. However, a fighter can force a quester to fight by going to him while he is innocently questing and killing him. With the Karma system, the quester can in turn force the fighter to quest by cursing him while he is innocently fighting. Suddenly, WHAM! the fighter has to quest. The people who kill others who do not want to fight are equivilent to those who curse others who do not want to quest. So, when Murphy/Ravin or someone else whines to me about cursing them, I see it as the same as when others whine to them about killing them. The thing is, cursing can't be done preemptively like killing can - it can only be done in reaction.
Now, if you could curse anyone at all, and it gave them suspect on you for doing so, the two would be completely equal, and cursing random people would be the same as killing random people. I think it is a good thing to keep things the way they are, however, though the system is unbalanced in favor of the fighters And no, I'm not making a serious suggestion, I'm just pointing out to the whiners how it could be worse.

I know you're joking, but I just want to point out that besides a blessing, you can't block curses. Killing someone is a lot harder.

Very true. Though I was joking and don't think this should be done, the system could be reworked slightly to overcome that. For instance, allow people to purchase 'defense' against a specific curse for fairly cheap (just that aspect of the blessing) and make blessings rebound curses instead of just block them, if they are of the same type.

Well... yeah I can do about 1500 damage to myself with no resistances.

On a side note... why can I attack myself with my staff? Useful to measure damage, but kind of silly.

hmm... good pooka tactic..
