One simple idea...
CHANGE WISP ALREADY. Can you imagine Geomancers being able to demesne summon Celestians out of aquamancer demesne. In terms of game balance, that's basically what happens.
Wisp==" "

I agree, for balance sake, it does make sense to change it. But, for roleplay sake, it does not. Forest is forest. Fae are, essentially, immune to the Taint. Or, at least, VERY resistant. So the wisp has no problem wandering through a tainted forest.
But, for balance sake, please, oh gods, please. Every forestal envoy should put this in his/her report.

Banshees and others get bound in shadows to serve Glom, why not wisps too?
Daevos2005-06-02 14:46:09
They have already set the precedent with the regen change. The one that made it so that Glomdoring citizens wouldnt regen in natural forests, and Serenwilde citizens wouldnt regen in tainted forests. Might as well finish it and change wisp/flow too so that using a demesne wont be a liability.
Daevos2005-06-02 14:47:45
And Glomdoring has wisps, they only have like one person who can use them effectively though. Anyway wisp wars are boring. Especially since you can wisp without any danger of being wisped yourself since you can wisp onto a monolith.

They're KILLED first, and it takes a Greater Spirit of Night to simply wrap them up in shadows.

Agreed. Shouldn't be able to wisp from a monolith, unless you can wisp someone off a monlith.

Umm, no, that would completely destroy any use Wisp has, or make it UGLY to fight between Gloms/Serens. Whomever wisps first wins. If people honestly see the current way Wisp works as broken, then the best solution, in my eyes, is to make normal wisps unable to reach into infested forests, and shadowed willowisps unable to reach into normal forests. The other suggested change would make the situation WORSE, not better.
Erion2005-06-02 15:56:55
Har. I'm all for going back to world-wide wisp, with no stopping it.
Sylphas2005-06-02 16:41:59
I'm all for the "no wisp onto mono", but that's just so my spore trigger will work.

I can drop a monolith after wisping faster than you could snort.

Who said I was dropping the monolith AND wisping? You wisp into a group, else wisping is worthless.

Because we all know summoning someone is worthless. It's not like you have schewed standards or anything

Summoning someone solo IS worthless, unless you summon onto a statue. Which, remember, you CANNOT DO WITH WISP. Because it's local area. " " yourself.
Erion2005-06-03 01:28:35
Hrong. Someone raiding the Glomdoring? Put a statue up on the bridge to the Glen. Bam.
Elryn2005-06-03 01:31:11
I agree.
Wisp only when both summoner and target in the appropriate forest.
Flow only when the target is in the appropriate forest.
Edit: Not that one side is disadvantaged over another here... Glomdoring can flow and wisp just as well as Serenwilde can.
Also, the Wisp change is debatable, since it already has plenty of restrictions... but the Flow one I'd DEFINITELY like to see. So both orgs aren't crippled from using it to defend against raiders that could return to a room full of their guards milliseconds before you flow.

Shiri2005-06-03 01:31:14
How many people have raided Glomdoring/Serenwilde recently? Even on the Ethereal not so many times, and the only people who have have been smart enough to USE MONOLITHS.
Erion2005-06-03 01:47:03
All seriousness aside, we've been hounding this for a while. We may not see a damn thing happen, unless we talk to our envoys, and have all four envoys (Read: Every envoy that has a guild capable of flowing) ask for said change.
Unknown2005-06-03 03:50:08
It isn't necessary. Whatever happened to all the talk that Serenwilde would be crying, begging for wisp to be changed once Glomdoring had it, and an opposing group could use it? Nope, no one in Serenwilde cares, just because Glomdoring doesn't know how to use it, and because we know how to get around it. Simple really.
