I got a bit of encouragement on this so I decided to go ahead and do it. Posting up a song of my band that is about to go in studio and record our first album. We've done a few demos but now we got enough interest in headlining shows and stuff localy we're going to record a full album. It is metal music for anyone who doesn't like that. Feedback welcome.

Downloaded it, your singer sounds a bit like Brandon Boyd from Incubus and Maynard James Keenan from Tool. The song actually reminded me alot of a Lateralus type song. Over all it was pretty enjoyable, and the riff variations were pretty decent. What instrument do you play and does your band have a website? Also how did you make the recording? On DAT?

Not too bad at all. I can see why people can familiarise the singers voice with that of Maynard's. Personally I prefer it when your singer is scream/growling. Which he very briefly does about 4 minutes into the track.
There's plenty of nice guitar in this song, I assume the majority of that is being played by you.
The song builds up well and overall I like it

Agree with the growling part. We been working on getting him to be more like that in his singing but its a process and not easy to sing that way. He's gotten alot better though this recording is a bit dated and hes improving more and more. When we go in studio hopefully if enough people are interested I can post up a newer version

Yeah, it takes a lot of work to be able to maintain a nice guttural growl through an entire track. Good to know you're working on it, heh.
It's good metal, good music.
Keep us posted and let me know when the album is available.
