This is the first recorded instance of it here as far as I am aware of, and I thought it was blocked here automatically like it has been on the other IRE muds, but what is the reasoning behind allowing mortals to kick fellow org members out whilst they are contesting for a position in an organisation?
Not only does it really screw with people contesting if they know that if their contestation isn't looked upon by a couple of the higher ranked members of that org they can just get booted, thus stopping people from trying to contest. That kind of power is really unfair and should only really be held by the Divine to be used in times of emergency.

I would say that it should be dealt on a case by case basis. As the Divine, from an outside perspective, might not be able to find out the entire story of the inter-personal politics on an election scale quickly enough.
That's my view though, and no doubt, people are going to jump on me for being biased.

Well.. boot them right after the election? Or was there a chance he could have actually won?
Asarnil2005-06-07 14:28:25
The only people who really hated him were the Shadow Court, and part of that was because they knew if he got power, most of them were going to get the boot due to being ineffectual and/or useless.
But mainly its because I think that everyone should have the right to contest without getting booted FOR contesting. If there is a problem with the person, wait the few days to boot them, or if its a really serious problem with them, get the DIvine to do it.

Actually there was a guild full of people who hated him. And Visaeris would have done more bad than good. Most people thought he would do well in the short term, but as far as the long term goes they thought he wouldnt fare to well.
Also.. Visaeris would not have had the power to boot anyone in the Shadow Court.

Look at who currently contests Galvadore..
We have like half the city hating him and he doesn't get booted during the election.

Visaeris is a different kind of evil
Lisaera2005-06-07 14:50:22
People should NOT be outguilded for contesting, but if there is good reason for it, they can be outguilded DURING an election. If you feel there has been wrong done in the outguilding, take it to your patron.
Ethelon2005-06-07 14:55:01
He should have been booted before the election is the problem, but things did not fall into order as they should and he slipped into the Election when he was told not to.

I don't care if half of the city hates shiro, He knows he can do a better job then Galvadore as Grand Duke. Besides, I can't be outguild because I don't have a guidl

Boo, they're talking about out-city/commune also.

This is not true. To remove a member of a City or Commune Council, all three of the other members of said council must do it together. Visaeris would've only been able to remove another if he had two GMs in agreement with him. On the same note, if the entire Shadow Court wanted him gone, they very well could've waited until after the election, then ostracized him as a whole, and that is if he actually won.
In case there are any questions to the validity of this:
COUNCIL
-It will take three members of the ruling council to eject you from the
commune

I was referring to Visaeris alone as Asarnil was stating.

If someone knows they can do a better job as Grand Duke, most logical people will contest.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding. You previously stated that Visaeris would have had the power to boot anyone from the Shadow Court (assuming he was elected). That is a fallacy.

I luff you, Aesyra.
Still wondering how he made that big of a mistake and why Lord Hajamin doesn't have him for a wallmount yet... I hope I'm around when they have that "talk".
Unknown2005-06-07 15:47:41
It's been 6 months since this happen, but Nikua booted the Moonhart Circle, and Marshall and enemied them all.
edit: I don't know the exact date, but it happened like that!

Stop hijacking this thread, it's about Visaeris and not about New Celest Elections
