As the title suggests I want to try a more complicated version this time. Someone else is welcome to start a 6.b if we also want a normal-esque game or if no one likes this one. What I wanted to do was give more people a chance to do special things, since I've always enjoyed it more myself.
The exact number for each role will be determined once I get everyone signed up, but this should give a general idea of the roles available. The blue people are on the side of the Elders and the red play for the Soulless.
These are all taken from http://www.princeton.edu/~mafia/rules.htm so while I'll try to summarize, if I'm not clear enough on something either ask, or look it up on the website. The original names will be in s.
General rules for anyone who hasn't played yet:
The players are divided into two teams: the Soulless and the Elder gods. There will be a 24 period of 'night' during which the night roles (Soulless, Yudhe, Tzaraziko, Guardian, Seer, and Luciphage) will PM me whom they wish to act upon.
I will then declare 'day' (we'll try 48 hours and see how it goes).
***Important***
During the day everyone gets to announce whom they suspect and voice opinions about why. Towards the end of the day one person (the Magnora, see below) will decide who dies. If the Magnora doesn't pick someone, for whatever reason *glowers at the people who sign up and don't play*, the person accused most often will be lynched.
The other thing is that a person killed by the Soulless will be given an opportunity to leave a message of up to two words for his survivors.
The Soulless win if the successfully bring the number of Elders down to the number of Soulless or less (not including the Luciphage).
The Elders win if they successfully eliminate the Soulless (not including the Luciphage).
Yudhe : Once per night Yudhe imbues someone with the essence of Magnora (see below). Yudhe can not select himself. In the event the Yudhe dies, Magnora becomes an elected position and may elect a new one by popular vote.
Magnora : Magnora is the person selected by Yudhe. During the day people are free to debate and accuse as they like, but the executions are carried out by Magnora alone. Basically the goal of the townsfolk is to convince Magnora whom to kill. Magnora can be any other role as well, and so very well might be a member of the Soulless. I will announce the Magnora at the beginning of each day, so her identity is known.
Tzaraziko : Tzaraziko is the wild card. Once per night I will ask it to point at a person. What happens to the person will be decided by a list of roles in the game I will create. For example, the Tzaraziko could randomly be a Seer and I will reveal an identity as such. If the Tzaraziko is something can can only happen to one person, like becoming Magnora or dying to the Soulless, then Tzaraziko's person will overrule the other. You may point at yourself, but you must select someone.
Elryn : Permanently trapped in choking shadows, the Elryn is a normal citizen that is so slow he doesn't realize he has been killed at night until one night later.
Elohora: Acts as both the Seer and the Guardian. Must select a person each night as well as deciding whether to protect or scry that person. Elohora is only told if someone is Soulless or not, but not their actual role. Luciphage shows up as an Elder.
Luciphage : Selects one person at night and I will tell them yes if they are either an Elohora or a Soulless, but not which. Although he wins with the Soulless, Luciphage doesn't know who they are.
Soulless: With a personal vendetta against the entire world, the Soulless know each other and must select someone each night who must die. Eventually all will be dead and the Soulless will rejoice.
I know it seems like the Elders get a lot more roles, but Magnora can be a Soulless (two killings, at the risk of exposing yourself) and the Tzaraziko might end killing off himself or another important person while trying to protect them, and the Elohora(s) may not protect someone and investigate at the same time, whereas the Luciphage spends the entire time looking for Elohora.
If you have any questions about the roles, just ask. I know it's kind of confusing, but I'd encourage you to read the full descriptions of the roles on the website I mentioned above. Also, bear in mind that you really only _need_ to understand you own role and the basics of the game.
Just post if you're interested in playing. I'd really like to try a game with all of the above mentioned roles, but if everyone absolutely hates the idea of something I'm more than willing to take it out.
In with the love, out with the jive, and may the force be with you.
EDIT: Allowed the Luciphage to see the Soulless as well.

Xenthos2005-06-09 06:55:42
Sounds interesting.
Though the Elryn role is odd... does that person know they are an Elryn? If so, when a night goes by and nobody dies, they'll know they were targetted...
Oh, I'd like to play.

Mmk, the Elryn doesn't know that he is. And when he doesn't die, I'll spin the story so that it looks like the Elohora was protecting him. That way the Soulless don't know who he is the the one remaining day. Then he'll keel over dead the next night, along with the victim of the Soulless. I picked Elryn because I always seemed to notice him as the one being stuck in choke while dreamweaving.
The other idea I'm toying with is revealing the roles of the night kills, but not the day lynchings. What do you guys think? Reveal roles always, not at all, or only if they were killed during the day/night?

I dunno... revealing roles at night is sorta limiting, in case the soulless ever do try killing one of their own as a tactic. And it also tells them how well they're doing in terms of killing off elohara's, etc.

Today of all days,
We must make our choices.
Now remember kids,
look both ways before
talking to strangers
or someone could lose
an eye.
Heartfelt thanks
and wellwishing spanks
Goto to all my dearest.
(Except Revan, he'd enjoy it to much)
In neither case, forever and always
No more Soulless for me, I can't be bothered.
On a related note, who wants sushi?
Fake Edit: Love the Elryn thing

I'll play, but I'm not sure I like the Tzaraziko thing... The rest sounds pretty cool though. Do the Soulless know who Luciphage is? Otherwise he's going to be pretty useless, especially if the Soulless kill him...
Unknown2005-06-09 12:27:11
I'll play too
Ashteru2005-06-09 12:54:56
I want to join, too. Maybe I'll perform better than last time.
Erion2005-06-09 12:58:29
Me three!
Sivriel2005-06-09 13:35:21
Oh yes, was fun reading the 5th Game. I'm playing too.
And I know I'm new, but I certainly won't stop playing in the middle of the game!

I'm in.
But i'm confused, what happens if Luciphage finds out who Elohora is at the beginning? What does he do next??

Try to convince people to kill her, I guess. It would make much more sense if he knew who the Soulless were and they knew him...
