Improving PvP on planes- Earth and Water.

I think there are two problems that makes PvP on the earth and water planes lame and thus, unused.

Problem 1- Only newbies bash there.

Possible answer- Make different types of essences dropped, some worth more than others. No one is going to risk going to an enemy plane for 1-3 power for their nexus. Stronger essences dropped by the stronger mobiles means non-newbies will bash there and it will actually be worth going to an enemy plane to gain essence for your nexus. Tweak strengths and amounts of mobiles as well most likely.

Problem 2- Lack of escape routes if you don't have a cubix/prism. As soon as you arrive, someone says you're there, then runs over and distorts the gateway and you're prettymuch guaranteed death.

Possible answers- Make distortion create a delay in using a gateway but not outright stop it. Or, make more gateways. Since there are "bubbles" between planes I could see an entirely new plane that is a catacombs of sorts connecting all the other planes together.

Have quests for turning in the opposing elemental lords, which grant power.

This will, in turn, get people to start wanting to kill them, and if escape routes does become a problem, learn to start weaving rifts.

Doesn't weaving a gateway take like 20 minutes to make and 10 to remove, and only go to an adjacent plane?

Yea, but that takes way too long. And, you can tesser from Nil to Water, and from Celestia to Earth. I imagine you can weave gates in a similiar fashion.

Non newbies do bash there. I've gone from 50 to 64 bashing purely on Elemental planes. Never had a problem getting out with tesseract the few times I've been jumped, except once by you Jello.

Well, I know that 99% of the time when I go to earth, there's either no one or 1 Magnagoran newbie there. I think that the essence rewards as well as the bashing setup needs tweaking.

Essence rewards do *not* need tweaking. What are they again? 1 if none of your Lords have Sands, and like, 5 if they all do? Something like that.

You should stop and find out what's going on w/ the Lords and all in the Elemental planes, before posting again. tongue.gif

Can the communes give sands to anyone? That said, they do need tweaking, as they currently aren't worth the effort to obtain. People just don't go there with anything approaching regularity.

Sands..communes? I'm only guessing that you mean the Manifestations then, and yes they are worth getting, if not for the sands themselves, the experience, gold, essence, and karma from those things are awesome.

Ok, I've read that they can. That really isn't the point though. Earth and water aren't being fought on or over, and they should be, so something needs tweaking. If you make essences dropped by the stronger creatures worth a base of 2-3 (so a maximum of 8 points if your side has all the manifestations) instead of 1 for all of them then I think that would encourage more activity on these planes.

That's the problem of your logic, why does Earth and Water needs to be fought over? No one is fighting over Nil or Celestia, only random raiding because there is something worth raiding. Why should or would they bother to do that to the Elemental Planes? If they wanted to initiate conflicts, they could just go directly to the Cosmic Planes and start killing angels/demons. Also, if the admins had originally wanted those planes to be fought over, they would have-

1) made killing creatures on those planes affected their respective cities
2) allowed guards on those planes

The admin have said many times that they want PvP to happen on the planes, but most of it doesn't. So I'm floating ideas for more reasons for people to be going to/fighting on the planes. You all don't have to be so hostile just because it's the internet... but no point going into that of course.

Guards don't increase conflict in general, they just increase conflict for those tanky enough to bash 20 guards.

And making them affect cities doesn't make much sense, at least for Water, since starsuckers and leeches are parasites draining energy from the plane.

Honestly, there's nothing to really fight over. You've basically made a perma-demesne for a geomancer, unbreakable by anyone else. Or an aqua, on Earth. Celestia/Nil are more likely, although I'd like to see some form of quests to weaken Supernals/Demonlords. Like, set number of angels/demons/cherubs/imps/divas/archdemons/archangels etc wandering about, and they generate power. Gotta keep 'em on your side, though, for more power.

Bam, increase in planar combat right there. And then, the more your side has, the weaker the opposing supernal/demonlord is. So, if Celestia has ALL the cherubs/imps, then Nifilhema will be much weaker. If Nil has them, Raziela will be weaker. If you kill all the archangels/archdemons and give 'em to Celestia, Methrenton will be much stronger, and Ashtorath will be much stronger. Or just regular angels and regular demons, Baalphegar and Japhiel. Then you have Divas and whatever the demon equiv. is, Shakaniel and Gogulu or something. And if Nil has very little of anything/nothing at all, Luciphage is weaker. Visa-versa.

That sounds interesting, though since you can convert fae, to keep it at a set number, you'd almost have to include fae in that, and Ethereal has plenty of conflict as is.

Not really. I'm pretty sure you can weave a gate linking Earth/Celestia.
