Well, after an epiphany of sorts last night, I wrote a bit of poetry, while singing with my friends. There's a few verses, or different peices, I think.
That was me trying to break through these insane walls in my mind,
to let my emotions free, to my 2 closest friends, and it's taken me years.
QUOTE
Why can't I let go?
I just want to go with the flow,
I just want to let go.
Please, I need you so.
Don't let go.
Please don't go.
I need you here,
If only to share,
I want you to care,
but I can't start it
Can't you see it?
I just want to go with the flow,
I just want to let go.
Please, I need you so.
Don't let go.
Please don't go.
I need you here,
If only to share,
I want you to care,
but I can't start it
Can't you see it?
That was me trying to break through these insane walls in my mind,
to let my emotions free, to my 2 closest friends, and it's taken me years.
QUOTE
You boys are the skin that holds me in
Don't let me slip away and sin
How about we just wall away
All our efforts.
No disappointments,
No more kids of silent dreams
Just wall it all away,
Forever
------------------
Just open up and breathe
Start forgetting why,
and open up and breathe,
let it out,
don't will away your silent dreams.
Fear drives our innermost desires
Flesh them out.
Breathe a breath of torment into me
Shock me to feel,
Take the fear from me,
step away and let my childhood free
Don't let me slip away and sin
How about we just wall away
All our efforts.
No disappointments,
No more kids of silent dreams
Just wall it all away,
Forever
------------------
Just open up and breathe
Start forgetting why,

let it out,
don't will away your silent dreams.
Fear drives our innermost desires
Flesh them out.
Breathe a breath of torment into me

step away and let my childhood free
QUOTE
What you are to me,
the sounding board,
of my disability.
Why can't I step away,
and make the image drop away.
The mask thats my facade,
Why can't I just have one made,
for every day,
just to gain some way,
to make them mind what I do,
Dismissal is all it gets,
I need to break apart,
and let the core shine through.

Huzzah! Couldn't have said it better myself

I don't think I'll ever appreciate poetry. Poets are a crazy lot.
I know someone who writes pages and pages of poetry on cocaine.

Whats not to like? Someone decides to put all thier emotions on paper that you can then mock later when they arn't feeling crummy anymore.
Karrah2005-06-12 10:39:12
Iunno. I just can't appreciate the abstract aspect of it, try as I may. Maybe I'm missing out on something? Or I'm not crazy enough.

oh.. thats the type of thing that you either get in 9th grade or you don't.
The book that made me "get" poetry was "Portrait of an Artist as a young man" Its a wacked out stream of consciousness book about a boy who rebels against his world or something. It has no poetry but it messes with language just enough to make you get it but no so much that you goes over you.

Oh and I hate Shakespeare with about the same amount of passion as he had for his work. On a unrelated side note, Tupac Shakur thought Shakespeare was "dope".
Karrah2005-06-12 10:46:24
Actually, that's a lie, there is one poet I like, Shell Silverstein. His poetry is simple yet humorous.

I'm really with you there. I generally just avoid poets because I see no need to be offensive, but poetry irritates me to no end, I hate it. It's like writing for people that can't make an interesting story, IMHO. Then again I don't see what's so pretty about welsh mountains and paintings and classical music either, so maybe I just have no artistic soul.
EDIT: That said, stop ripping on the poetry and let the people who appreciate it go on about it.

I'm guessing that the reason you most hate shakespear, as appose to why people think he was the best, is because you have never seen a shakespear play done with a no set and low budget costumes, done in understanble english.
Reason for that being, even without a set, or good costumes, and just based on the dialogue alone you can tell whats going on in the world around the charachters talking.

There is nothing intrincially good about Claisscal music or any of the stuff you mentioned. Its the context in which it is played, and what it does within its limitations etc which makes people like it. You have to understand the purpose it serves in contrast to other things that serve that purpose, and then it can make sense to you.

THE COMPLETE WORKS OF SHAKESPEAR (Abridged)
VERY VERY FUNNY.
Shakespear really good, if you see a good performance.
After reading a little bit you start to understand it.

Shakespeare and poetry in general confuses me. But they're fun to read once in a while, especially if they have deep meanings.

Shakespeare is very very good imo. After watching it performed and reading some of it I've really started to like it. We read Hamlet this year in english and I think Hamlet was a genius. Midsummer Night's Dream just relates way too much to me. I'd be the annoying chick that gets jealous of the other one and chases both the guys around. I think Romeo and Juliet was a good play, but it's really getting very cliche these days. I know there are at least 10 movies with the same plot.. I've read some other stuff, but I probably don't remember enough to comment.. -goes back to sleep-
