Is there an NPC character that refills vials?
Richter2005-06-14 19:29:27
Rowena used to, for a time, if you gave her herbs. Nowadays, you have alchemists from both Glomdoring and Serenwilde, to help the player-run economy along.

Even with twice as many alchemists now, I still don't think it works too well. Lusternia isn't big enough to have a vital trade skill like that be player run only, we all know how it is when you can't find an alchemist and have to stop playing until the next day.
Ralshan2005-06-14 20:32:42
Yeah. Plus it's not really "twice as many alchemists" for everyone. I mean before, Magnagorans had to find someone in the Seren who'd fill for them, which could sometimes be really hard. Now, I'd imagine most Glomdoritos would fill for most Magnagorans, but Celestians probably won't do much business with them, under the heading of "supporting the taint" and I'm sure the feeling would be mutual.

So it's a net plus for Magnagora, because before it was either find a neutral-ish Seren, find your friend's alt, or be screwed. Now they have a commune that seems generally friendly toward them, plus whatever loose Serens they had before. Celest gets the addition of possibly some Glomdoritos who might be neutral-ish, but you have to deal with a "taintscum" to get it.

Ah, politics.

If no one is around, I buy from Bob, who has a limited supply of somewhat poor potions.

Also, remember, we have player-run stores.

Rowena still refills everything but purgatives.

closedeyes.gif I don't want her to make potions! Make her stop, she is supposed to be our teacher not some potion refiller for everyone!

Edit: Bah, evil Terenas. mad.gif

Not everyone is as rich as Richter, who doesn't really fight. Bob don't cut it. I still think we need a Seasone.
Olan2005-06-14 22:42:27
You would think that, as long as there is a shortage of refillers, the trade would become more attractive to people and we'd see more alchemists. It should balance out to an equilibrium point where we have enough refillers from both communes to soak up all the business without leaving alchemists out of work. ANd really, if it truly is a shortage of refillers, how are people still validly complaining about prices? I mean, if I can only find one person who has the means and political affiliation to refill for me, and they want to charge 100 extra gold per vial so they can make a profit, and my other choice is to stop playing Lusternia and come back tomorrow, which do you think I'm going to choose?

Grrr bugger off with the NPC's!
Gwylifar2005-06-14 23:20:33
I thought Rowena was supposed to stop that the moment Glomdoring got an alembic and skills. That's what we were told. Foul, I cry, foul!
Richter2005-06-14 23:29:25
True, I don't use potions as fast as you all, and 400gp per is fine if no one is around.

That said, I was under the impression that Rowena was going to stop as well.

That was what I was told, but then I saw some Magnagoran and Rowena did her little potion making action. And then many Magnagorans also said that they were told that she still made potions.

Herbs cost too much. Being a tailor is much more profitable, especially with a shop.

Oh herbs are not that expensive if you know where to get them.
Bau2005-06-15 01:45:21
You still have to pay for em, and constantly. At least I know where to get cloth, leather, etc from without whining for herbalists (especially since there are never any herbalists around when I need em).
Unknown2005-06-15 01:49:00
There are a few shops scattered around that do most herbs at good prices.
Desdemona2005-06-15 01:56:20
You know, I've been finding sticking to bashing/making gold to refill bulk (20 vials) and keeping my eyes open for either: Titania, Selthar, Umbrawn, Tatiana, maybe for some even Laysus/Beldaran... as most useful. Sometimes it's hard to get hold of either of them, but when I do... I make sure to get from them what I need in enough supplies to last me for long. I advice you to do the same, and you'll notice that an NPC refiller isn't really needed. You just need to be patient, very patient.
