So, the whole trade skills depending on each other thing is great, if Lusternia was the size of achaea and there were enough people to make it work. As things are now, players regularly are forced to log off because they can't find an alchemist so that they can continue playing, and alchemists who can't find herbalists feel jipped, since alchemy is the only trade skill that depends 100% on someone else's trade skill.

I think alchemy's herb requirements should be removed until such a time as Lusternia is big enough to make it work. And an npc alchemist who refills at least health and mending, and maybe fire, needs to go in.

Disagree on both counts. It would destroy the herbalism trade and I oppose NPC fillers (die rowena!) on all accounts.
Unknown2005-06-16 09:01:52
So you're basically asking for alchemy to be free... and for there to be an NPC for when there aren't enough people to do it for free?

then get your city to stock a shop full of potions. make the alchemists rich when they are around.

I'm trying to do this, but finding a reliable jeweller in celest to sell me bulk (200 at a time) gems is bloody impossible.

What I find ironic is that it's easier to find enchantments in Serenwilde than it is to find potions. I find more potions in New Celest. Methinks the shops have gone to the wrong individuals or just haven't made the right deals.

It is easier to find enchantments? Since when? All Nejii ever seems to do is look for enchanters! Heh!

If I can find a jeweller with a hammer and mastercut willing to cut my gems for me for cheap if not free, I'd have hundreds of vials in my shop like I used to. But all my gemcutters left, which makes me a sad, sad (broke) Selthar.

You could look outside Celest maybe?

You could buy empty vials instead of demanding gemcutting for you. At some decent price of course.
We could talk about that. cool.gif

Then what am I to do with the 500 gems in my rift? *mutter*
And I have been buying vials, I found a shop that sells them for QUITE the decent price.

Sell them to me for cheap, of course. sleep.gif

What I find irritating, is that people want cheap vials, but gems prices don't go below 100gp.
Unknown2005-06-17 02:53:53
Cheap as in 300 gold per?

Yes! per 10... laugh.gif

I don't know how much they sell normally, I kinda bought them like 3 years ago.

On the whole free Alchemy, I have three words....

Not A Chance

No alchemist in the basin would refill if they weren't makin any gold from it... And you have to remember that if you say they could still charge 20 or 40 gold, the herbalists would get screwed because the alchemists are basically their best customers...

On to the whole Vial prices... 100 gold for one gem is rediculous, and you just have to shop around for a propper supplier... I've bought gems at prices of 10 gold per gem... Of course, I bought about 200 of em...

Stocking full potions in a shop is difficult because the vials often cost a helluva lot more than the potions themselves.... Hence why everyone refills instead of just buying new vials.... I think its a very good system, the people who get good enough prices on gems/vials can afford to stock shops, so their potion prices are reasonable, and they get more business....

Not supposed to be easy

10 gold per gem!? That's crazy...and 200 isn't even bulk. I have people buying by the thousands and I never sell for that cheap... wacko.gif

I need to find this person ninja.gif

Well, I hope you realize that 10g per gem is WAY BELOW comms price.

And that's taking an artifact for freaking 500cr into account, because without it no jeweler stands a chance. (well, you can craft items based mainly on commodities other then gems...)

I've seen gems sold by similar prices, but it was someone who forgot/switched the trade and just wanted to unload it.

Also, to say something actually topic related cool.gif ... idea of making potions without herbs is stupid.

Eh, this furthers my point that the trade skills relying on each other isn't working out because the playerbase is too small.

That I can agree with. It's not that much about relying on each other, it's player driven economy overall what isn't working too well because of too small playerbase.
