Newton and Conglutinate

Well, I was thinking that, since we get to conglutinate in the middle of a battleground (ie, open villages), shouldn't newbies get to Conglutinate in Newton/Lolliprin? Maybe have it be part of the Grace of Innocence? Maybe have them conglutinate from any death so long as they have the Grace? I dunno, I just get sad watching poor newbies pray sad.gif

But praying is part of learning process! Every newbie should die at least once in Newton. smile.gif

It takes about 10 minutes for a newbie to recover from a praying death. They'll get over it.

10 minutes? For a warrior maybe. Guardians and wiccans get the exp back in 2-3 mins, killing everything in a hit or two. Their newbie attacks are so strong that they won't even die in the first place.
Acrune2005-06-17 14:58:53
Eh, same point though. Why give newbies another crutch when they don't need it?

Upgrade newbie knight damage vs. mobs! Then we'd see no newbies dying in Newton.

Newbies need to learn. When I was in Kalebb in Aetolia, I died all the time, and learned how to be a better fighter.

If newbies are dying in Newton, there's something wrong and they need more guidance from guildmembers. If they can't survive in Newton, and simply breeze through from not losing much experience through death/conglutination and then get kicked out upon too quickly reaching level 21, there's no chance that they'll have learned how to survive in the realm at large.

Saw a Moondancer novice on deathsense the other day, so I waited out her praying and then talked with her. Turned out that her teacher hadn't made it clear enough or she was too confused to understand that she should've been using her talisman to nature curse. doh.gif

A problem simply remedied, as I was able to explain things more clearly, and she seemed do be doing better after that. At least, she hadn't died again in the next few hours. happy.gif

That's not true for the Knight guilds, Tsuki. We kill finks/gnomes a lot slower than the mage-type guilds, so have to take quite a beating from the denizens to get anywhere.
Tsuki2005-06-19 04:47:36
But if newbies can't even kill the denizens of Newton, anything else (with the possible exception of weevils) is basically going to be MORE difficult, yes?
Xenthos2005-06-19 05:09:12
Um, of course... but we're talking about Newton's here I believe, not things elsewhere.

As a side note, after Newton's, knights basically DO get to bash weevils for a number of levels. Faeling/Elfen knights at least don't do enough damage to have a shot at anything else before they fall over dead.

Rockeaters are easily doable at lvl15 for a decent-con race, so long as you have some decent weapons and know how to shield.
Xavius2005-06-19 06:26:26
Hate to hijack the thread, but...

What do you all think of adding a summon protection to Newton? I've dragged an insolent Mag novice out once and afflicted him senseless, then left what was left to rot just off the main path on the Peak. While I firmly hold that he deserved it, I don't think I should have been able to do it. There're far more bloodthirsty people than me out there.

Part of me agrees with you, but another part says that if they were dumb enough to drop innocence in the first place, sucks to be them.

Please note that I did mention faelings and elfen, two of the specialization races (so very common for new players). I think merians might be in the same boat. Y'know, the boat of races without decent con, at least until they specialize biggrin.gif

Sorry, I'm apparently having difficulty in clearly conveying my thoughts ... sleep deprivation does that sometimes. happy.gif

If a newbie is in Newton and killing things badly and dying, with conglutinate they wouldn't be losing as much as they'd be gaining probably (assuming they do manage to kill a few things and only die after every other or every few kills). So they'd still be gaining the experience without gaining the knowledge of how to survive elsewhere later on, where they wouldn't conglutinate and have more to lose.

Better explanation, I hope? unsure.gif
