Could pocketbelts be unseen when you look at someone like backpacks are, please?

Exhibit A:

QUOTE(Malicia @ May 28 2005, 09:31 PM)
She is a regal aslaran and of average height, her body lean yet visibly female.
Covering her muscular frame, her fur is a dense, rich black, like velvet to the
touch. Tiny silver hairs shimmer here and there, the only colour on her dark
body. Her paws are slightly larger than expected for her size, antique ivory
claws peeking out at the tips.  Her amber eyes, gleaming like a pair of
gemstones, warily watch the world. This is matched by the twitching of her
elegant ears, sitting high on her short-muzzled head. Her tail sways idly from
side to side, the tip just barely brushing the ground. She is wearing a black
and silver gown, a black and silver fur-lined cloak with aslaran imagery, a
wooden ring, a brooch of playing kittens, a silver torc, a pocketbelt, a
pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a
pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a
pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a
pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a
pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a
pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, and a pocketbelt.
I'm easily amused!

I've seen someone with over 100, so it's not that bad. wink.gif
And backpacks are visible in descriptions! What are you talking about? blink.gif

I've never seen 'em when looking at someone!

Backpacks at least can add a little bit of character since there are different kinds. Pocketbelts don't, and the whole list of 'em detracts and distracts from the actual description and thoughtful attire.
Unknown2005-06-25 16:40:44
Hmm, maybe it's different when you look at someone and when you look at yourself...

When you look at yourself, you see everything you are wearing, regardless of layers or whatnot, I believe. Because I can see my boxers, but you can't. I hope.
Xenthos2005-06-25 19:12:06
Actually, people can see my boxers.

Through my field plate. doh.gif
Gwylifar2005-06-25 19:34:52
In Aetolia, that would show as "24 pocketbelts" or whatever. That seems the best solution to me.
Shryke2005-06-25 20:15:26
or just several pocketbelts, I mean, who would count?
Arundel2005-06-26 01:44:07
I was never a fan of the "24 pocketbelts" thing, though it'd be better than seeing each one individually. I just think it's bad form to have the actual numbers in your description.

On-topic, they should definitely change it so you don't see every single belt.
Gwylifar2005-06-26 22:55:09
Well, perhaps the ideal thing would be similar to how piles of gold look: you can't see the number, but you can see the difference between a few, a lot, and a heckuvalot, without actually having a precise number. Because really I can tell Ysbail is wearing a lot of pocketbelts at a glance, while someone else is wearing only one, or a few.

But really, is that level of realism worth the coding time, in a game where you can't even look closely at most of the objects in a room, take something from the hand of a corpse, or see something a short distance away from you an open flat plain if there doesn't happen to be a straight line to it?
Vix2005-06-26 23:05:53
I'm assuming pocketbelts are like regular belts worn about the waist since you have to have a regular belt enchanted (right?)... how do you wear 24 belts? For some reason, I get the image of Lulu's dress from FFX.

Nope, hence why I propose they be unseen like backpacks.

Backpacks are unseen.

Exhibit A:

He is a graceful elfen. He is wearing plain grey trousers, a plain grey tunic,
and a silver torc.

- novice Moondancer. They get a canvas backpack in the tour.

Exhibit B:

She is a nimble faeling and has sparkling grey eyes and a mischievous grin on
her lips. Her tousled silver hair seems to have a mind of it's own as it flows
around her head when she moves about. Indeed, it seems difficult for her to
stand still. With her wings fluttering, she is hovering above ground at one
moment and moving quickly on her feet in the next, making it difficult to keep
her in sight. She is wearing a pair of green drawstring trousers, a
loose-fitting green shirt, a silver and ruby soul mate ring, a friendship ring
of pure jade, and a silver torc.

Sivriel puts some gold sovereigns in a soft, crystal blue leather pack.

Sivriel. She has a backpack as shown.

Exhibit C:

She is a graceful high elfen and watches the world with thoughtful interest in
her green-eyed gaze. Hair dark as the night sky flows past her hips, the color
contrasting with the paleness of her skin. Her ink-smudged fingers are long and
slender, with well-shaped nails. Bare feet have been stained greenish by grass
and leaves, and the light scent of various herbs drifts around her. She is
wearing a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a wispy green
dress, a dark leather necklace with a crescent moon pendant, a moondance
bracelet, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a pocketbelt, a silver and
ruby soul mate ring, and a silver torc.

Me looking at me. I'm wearing a a black leather and silk backpack.

Wow, um, so that's what the lump under your dress is? *duck*

Strange how you can't see backpacks though. Maybe they automatically go under anything else you're wearing?
Unknown2005-06-27 19:12:35
Nope, you show up as completely naked if you're only wearing a backpack.

*insert lame joke about a backpack being to small to cover himself up here*

Hehe. Small hijack, but I've always found it amusing about how you're clothed with a backpack in the Achaean newbie tour. laugh.gif
Sylphas2005-06-27 22:23:19
I find it amusing that in the Aetolia newbie tour, you have to buy clothing, but all you can afford is, I think, a skirt or a hat.
