Has anyone seen it? Someone ruined the movie for me (never read the book), but I plan to see it this weekend.
Daganev2005-06-30 18:37:23
Just so people don't get paniced... its not real, don't worry
Unknown2005-06-30 18:54:58
I'm about to go watch it in an hour. I'll tell you all if its worth the $. A good place to check for movie reviews by the way is www.rottentomatoes.com. They're usually pretty good about their ratings.

Don't even bother considering NOT seeing this movie. Go. Go now.
Richter2005-06-30 19:48:37
Someone at work said that they weren't going to see it because Tom Cruise made some idiot remark on some show about... something, I don't remember what it was.

Heck of a reason to not see what looks like a good movie.
Daganev2005-06-30 20:14:52
The truth is, He's not seeing the movie because the News said that people won't see the movie because of some stupid comment.

Ahh, the power of the press, on things that don't matter
Richter2005-06-30 20:28:35
...no, she's not seeing the movie because Tom Cruise made some idiot remark on a show. Isn't that what I posted?
Shamarah2005-06-30 22:46:41
I'm going to see the movie anyway, but I'm curious - is it anything like the book?
Rhysus2005-06-30 23:17:59
I'll see the movie, but Tom Cruise's appeal is waning in my eyes. I still find him to be a spectacular actor, but I can't bring myself to respect the ideals of Scientology with the way they go about "recruiting" their membership. It's sad, really, that Cruise is sucking his new fiance away from all her upbringings into the cesspool of "faith" that is Hubbard's drug induced brainchild.
Arundel2005-06-30 23:21:37
What ways would those be?

As for Tom Cruise, I try not to let anything but an actor's acting skill determine my choice of movies.
Unknown2005-06-30 23:49:40
I agree there. I won't watch a movie I don't like the idea of just beause I happen to agree with the viewpoints of an actor, so I won't avoid a movie just because the actor playing the lead role is by recent reports a jerk.
Unknown2005-06-30 23:56:48
Just came back from it. It was good - I give it an A-. Definately worth the money if you're planning to go.

I would wager that she would not care what Tom Cruise said on some show if it wasn't for the fact that said clip from show was repeated on every news channel across the country countless times, with countless anchormen bringing attention to said comments.

Heck, I didn't even know Tom cruize had a girlfriend untill every single news channel decided this was more important than the elections in Iran.
Arundel2005-07-01 00:49:07
Sadly, that's what much of the "news" has become: sensationalism. Then again, that's not exactly news itself.
Daganev2005-07-01 00:55:35
Yeah, I was rather disgusting when I was watching the news and they were explaining the Iran election, and then they stopped for "Breaking news" which consisted of a high speed chase in Phoenix... I almost wrote them an email about it!

back on topic.. I'll have to see this movie once I see starwars tongue.gif

mellow.gif This actually happened? Are you serious?
Sylphas2005-07-01 02:36:54
Yes. If you haven't seen American "news", you have no clue how skewed their priorities are.
Unknown2005-07-01 03:14:51
I would have seen this already if Tom Cruise wasn't in it. Oh lord I hate him, and he is such a bad actor.
Unknown2005-07-01 16:02:05
I'm a little iffy on seeing this. I love the book because there is actually a little give and take between the earthlings and the martians. Sure Earth still gets it butt kicked but they take a few martians with them. That is my biggest peeve in any sort of action/war/sci-fi flick. The battles and fight scenes are always so one one sided. You know the 'winners' are going to dominate but at least let the 'losers' get in a shot or two.
Richter2005-07-01 16:19:55
Earth loses? >_<

I've not seen the movie or read the book. Thanks.
