Well, Live 8 has kicked off in London, U2 and Paul Macartney opening it. This thread's pretty much for general discussion about the gigs, and I think it will be interesting to hear feedback from across thee world as the gigs play.

I am staying up to record all 11 hours or so of it. I can't wait for Pink Floyd and The Who to play. Hell, if Pink Floyd wasn't playing together for the first time in 24 years, half the people I know would be nowhere near as interested in it.

What I find stupid is they're handing out leaflets for going to the G8 rally today.
For those that don't know, the rally in Edinburgh IS today.
I think it's a bit late to be giving out leaflets saying "a variety of accomodation and transport packages for supporters will be available soon".

Will Smiths part was farking awesome. He came out to the Ali song, sung good music, and finished up with getting the crowd to sing the entire Fresh Prince of Belair theme song.

I just watched Pink Floyd on it, and I am glad to say THEY STILL GOT IT!!!!! Started off weak (never was the biggest fan of Pigs on the Wing) but finished off really strong on Comfortably Numb, which was a blast. I hope they do a tour, because I would love to see it.

Damnit, I REALLY need to download this concert off somewhere. I worship Pink Floyd and Roger Waters and David Gilmour finally patching things up would be awesome to watch.

Believe me Maedhros, it was a very beautiful thing watching them together again. You know that quote they said about pigs flying over london before Pink Floyd got back together again? They even had a pig balloon (or something like it) floating through the air.

Argh I REALLY want to see it. How long was their gig?
Asarnil2005-07-03 02:30:34
They played four songs. Breathe, Money, Wish You Were Here and ended with Comfortably Numb.

Nice. What was that bit you said before about Pigs on the Wing? I've never really been a fan of Money, but Wish You Were Here is my favourite song and Comfortably Numb is awesome. Breathe is awesome too for starting off one of the greatest albums in existance . I really wanted to see Pink Floyd perform Echoes live, but I suppose it's impossible for Dave and Rick to get that pitch in their voices anymore.

On the intro for when they started playing Breathe, on the screens behind them they had an image of a pig flying over London. I think it was Roger Waters or somebody who said that if Pink Floyd ever got back together, pigs would fly over London, so they did it.

Wow. I just watched Pink Floyd's gig. Roger and the band together again is a beautiful thing . I was worried about Dave's voice since in one of the documentaries on Dark Side he sings Breathe Reprise and it sounds really strained, but they were awesome. This version of Money was way more bearable than the other live versions (DSoT and PULSE) cause it wasn't drowned in backup singers. I see Roger still has the headbanging moving around thing going on . It was awesome how they honoured Syd as well before WYWH. Interesting to see both Roger and Dave singing WYWH, though I like Dave's voice better .
