I figured out how we can fix the credit market

Back to Common Grounds.

Everyone just buy ~40 credits OOC once a month or so, then just donate the whole lot of them to your commune or city. Or your guild if you're thinking locally.

As long as everyone does it, credit prices should plunge.

I have decided this is the tactic I'm going to take since I can't get the half real money half gold credits that I so fondly dream of.

Neeeeeeeeeever gonna happen.
Unknown2005-07-12 02:08:50
Sure, everyone just buys 40 credits oocly monthly...

Acrune2005-07-12 02:11:24
How about we all buy ~40 credits monthly, keep them, and stop buying credits IG? Sounds easier to me. cool.gif

spend $20 a month just like those evercrack folk!

It seems reasonable to me as this game is more enjoyable to me than everquest is.

...but yeah, It's really just a matter of me not using smilies to indicate my sarcasm.
Drathys2005-07-12 03:14:17
All that's required for that to work, is for someone to also send the same amount of money each month to people who can't afford OOC credits... rolleyes.gif

I nominate Richter?
Asarnil2005-07-12 04:40:03
Why would we do that when we could all chip in and send the credits to Joli to help her set up her AquaBunny LoveShack?

I would need to discipline her severely were she to undertake such a course.

actually, thinking about it, I don't think money sinks will drop credit prices. In fact, if you create cool nifty things, like manses, people who have the gold will buy it. People who don't who can buy credits will - and they'll just buy less, sell at the current rate. Whats the incentive in selling at a markedly lower price?
Anumi2005-07-12 13:35:52
Well, assuming that a large number of people want some new gold-sink, and they don't want to spend the time to bash for it, they buy credits. Now there's a lot of people wanting to sell credits, and fewer people wanting to buy credits, because they want to hold on to their gold for the new nifty-thing. So you have to lower your credit price if you want them to sell. Supply goes up, demand goes down, prices go down.

but the demand for credits is always there, and its always high. Why would the price drop? People are willing to buy credits. Try putting one on at 5000, see how long it lasts.
Anumi2005-07-12 15:18:13
Well, if demand is very high, prices go up. Seems like the credit market is working properly and doesn't need "fixing", then. But if some new gold-sink is introduced, we'd see demand for credits go down some, and prices go down.

Imagine, for instance, that you could one day buy Demigod-ness for some huge amount of gold, and gold only. Among everyone but maybe newbies who haven't transed their guild skills yet, demand for credits would drop through the floor. Who needs to trans Arts or buy an artifact when you can buy Demigod? You'd have to lower your credit-selling price to get any gold at all. Eventually it'd balance out, some people would wait until it stabilized a little bit, but prices would go down.

Mmm, credits. I have $140 a month after I pay rent. I can't afford credits anymore. crying.gif

Richter2005-07-12 17:50:27
Well then everyone should quit talkin about how I have soooo many credits, and I'm the devil, mm?

And everyone buying credits every month isn't a viable option. We have 13 and 14 year olds here too, as well as people that don't have any leftover money. I believe I'll have next to nothing once I get my own place.

The credit market is fine. If you think it isn't, boycott it. It's like those people that don't buy certain things, or eat certain things, because they think that something is wrong. It makes them feel better, although it changes nothing.
