I was thinking about it and i notice they have great resistances, and the only two things bad is the level1 slower eq and 9 int. But with a knowledge blessign and astro defs int would not be that bad, and with 18 con i would think that would balance out the low int.
this is just something i was debating, and would like some input.

Doubly no if you're thinking Astrology.
Equilibrium penalties make for unworkable guardians. You're not going to be able to pull off the merian/mugwump cosmicfire kill, you'll be hard pressed to amissio with the speed penalty, and you'll lose your edge in hindering your opponent.
Not to mention, you'll never be able to bash. Ever.

It's VIABLE. If you quest yourself up to the higher levels, and get the lvl 3 staff arti. With all the blessings, you'll have to rely on your ent(s) for dealing out afflictions. Honestly, it's not going to be fun. Igasho druid, maybe. Talk about tanky. Although, the damage from cudgel/cosmicfire is going to just plain suck, and the eq balance will make it even worse.
Viable? Yes. A good idea? No.

Igasho can bash irrelevant of their class. That's what they're built for.

Yea it was just a thought and to let you know and Igasho bashing with 9-11int will blow with cosmic fire. Cosmic fire is already a crappy attack. I have an OK time bashign with 17-18int with it but anything less just makes me get mad at how long it takes to kill a damn bull or goat

Questing would be your alternative. I've contemplating buying a changeling cloak, going human, getting a harmony blessing, and quest-whoring for a week.
On that note, Kalo has never, ever bashed. He has leveled to 50 solely by questing. The only bashing he's done is killing chickens for quest items for an honors quest.

I really don't think you'd be able to as an igasho. For merian, mana is a non-issue. You have a ton of it, and since it only takes ten cosmicfire to drop a lobstrosity, you use less of it. As an igasho, you have less mana and need to use more mana. Your mana sips regenerate less than the merian sips. You get hit more often (for proportionally less damage), because your fights last 270% as long. I bet you'd end up sipping more vials and actually risking death at the levels that the merian can survive up there.

Are you sure it's 270%? That seems a bit long. Especially since it's just a lvl 1 balance penalty, and with the balance nerfs, it's barely noticeable. Or was.

They de-nerfed it slightly. At least for the advantage. It's pretty good again now.

Don't forget that Igasho have 9 intelligence and specialized Merians have 18.
Xavius2005-07-16 04:11:13
In the interest of fairness, I did actually do the math with a level 2 eq penalty. The correct number is 238% as long.
Edit: And it's working on the assumption that the effect of intelligence is linear. I have heard from some that it's geometric, in which case I haven't a foggy clue what the difference is.
