This is a thread for you to make comments on the new Wargames arena game, and make any suggestions you feel might make it better. I seem to be adding new things to it every five minutes anyway.
Now excuse me while I go pass out.

Only so much, but that smilie sums up what I think:
Murphy2005-08-22 01:51:42
no offence, but it sucks!
well its a great idea, but you firly can't follow in the arena, and secondly, it becomes like village influencing with demesne wars. It should be customisable to turn demesnes on or off, I know druids and mages will feel screwed, but it really removes from the fun of combat, when people camp and try tobreak demesnes.
It's a damn chore honestly, its designed to be fun, breaking demesne's isn't fun. it's also dodgy when all the better fiughers get on one team, i reccomend an option for random teams!

I absolutely the game! Freakin' awesome! Lisaera.
Soll2005-08-22 01:53:10
Although, that's a very good point. If it's team, let team-members follow each other, maybe? And perhaps do something about demesnes, because it could easily become camp and wait, which is dull.
Murphy2005-08-22 01:54:57
the last one was just kaervas in a demesne, with amaru whoring beckon at the edges.

We considered making following possible in Wargames, and decided not to.

You could just as easily spend an FFA doing that. There are no differences between the skills useable in the two. I saw a couple of times when a team charged into another team's area and killed them all, so I think it depends whether you want to play cautiously or not. The element of surprise can be powerful!

There is. Either don't specify a team to join, or join a Wargames event that has Forced Even Teams on.
Murphy2005-08-22 02:01:50
spending an FFA doing that against one person is a lot less demanding than trying to break a demesne with a full team behind it. You can go and fight the demesne owner if you go into his demesne, and kill him removing the problem. Its a LOT more of a chore trying to kill him amidst a team of webbers, stunners et al.
I mean it has a lot of potential to be a lot of fun, maybe limit demesne size to 3 or so rooms? or have it customisable

Yeah...thanks for that hint, Lady Lisaera...
Not my fault my meatshield died before his time...
Unknown2005-08-22 02:09:23
I refuse to be a meatshield. And I saw Amaru struggling so I was like "oooh, fun fun, something to poke". I go north, and blam, Kaervas is trying to break demesne. I sit there. Fight. Die. Fun.
And next time, if everyone isn't on the teams they want to be on, or some of the teams are overpowered, dont wait 15 minutes to start. Just give them a warning, then start it up. We were sitting around doing nothing, and sure enough, as soon as our wisper and coven leader decides to walk off, he gets killed and the match starts before he can rejoin.

I really liked it. I think being able to follow team mates though should be implimented.
Lisaera2005-08-22 02:18:14
Personally I prefer having forced even teams on, as I like watching people who wouldn't usually fight together try to work together, and seeing skills that wouldn't normally be combined (Roark brought up the possible uses of combined Aquamancy and Nihilism during the first Wargames) being combined in interesting ways.
There will, however, be a new mode called semieven soon which will allow you to pick a team, but only if that team isn't too much larger than the smallest team.

on a side note, I do appreciate the work you've put in for this, its a top job and great design, just needs a few little tweaks.
And i love the idea of being forced to fight alongside the enemy in a pvp situation, its very interesting. the ability to follow would also be awesome

Stangmar2005-08-22 02:22:32
heh, yeah, i like the idea of being on a team with people you would normally be fighting against(mostly because the people i would normaly be fighting agianst PWN me.). It makes it interesting.
Murphy2005-08-22 02:25:19
don't ever say that work again stangmar! its horrible

Take Demesnes away, fine. Only if Guardians/wicca lose Celestialism/Nihlism/Wicca, and warriors lose weapon specializations. Because that's exactly what you're doing.
Unknown2005-08-22 02:36:03
THAT said. <3
Unknown2005-08-22 02:38:25
Not really, if you take away demesne from it, they will still be fine, because mages and droods can cast -room- effects instead of area wide effects, they'll have the same potency except the effects wont be everywhere.

you mages/druids always say that. The main difference is, that a warrior's weapons or a nihilsts demon doesn't affect a total area, they can only target one person at a time.
This is in the name of fun, so yes druids may suffer a little. Like i said the option would be customisable as in able to be turned on and off
Tenqual got it right, have the effects able to be cast, just no melding.
