Freeing up names..

(spawned by the thread in 'Idiots' about people with unacceptable names)

I know how to solve this! ...in part at least, by freeing up tons of names in-use.

Autodelete all of the gr1 novices who are dormant :-P My guild has got almost 2,000 dormant members and only 11 are above GR1 why? alts/people who just log on and never to do again. I admit i've got one of those in another guild here on lusternia, and 4 on other muds but all of those autodelete anyone under level 30 if they don't log on at all after a few months.

Maybe only Gr and Cr 1 charactors who are still Novices, after a few months, who havn't bought ooc credits/any artifacts or a manse, and arn't above lvl 30? this would still take care of 90% of them, if the other guilds are similar to mine. Getting to lvl 30 isn't very hard, could even lower that to lvl21 if you wanted.

Characters should automatically be deleted after a long period of inactivity, but the novice who stole my Achaean name is still around last I checked...
Hajamin2005-07-26 04:57:45
Characters are deleted, but those that are over level 21 have their names automatically added to the banned list. This is for roleplay reasons, I'm sure some of you remember the case of someone that deleted themselves and then was recreated not too long after(by another person).
Asarnil2005-07-26 05:00:51
Only L21? Do you realise how many names could get added to the banned list just in one days work by a couple of people who are bored out of their skulls? sad.gif
Unknown2005-07-26 05:01:49
Ok that makes sence.

but I geuss all of them are lvl 22 then. tongue.gif
Asarnil2005-07-26 05:05:13
a Magnagoran novice who hasn't hit L60 before leaving novicehood is one who didn't try too hard. And I am mucho serious about that.
Unknown2005-07-26 05:13:44
lvl 60? so you incurage your novices not to RP and hunt instead? (Or are magnagorians just that much more helpful to their novices?) *ponders making a Magnagorian alt for the sweet skills, help with hunting, freeness from RP and having big-brothers that squish everyone else* tongue.gif

Seriously though I admit getting to lvl 50 is moderatally ez, now that i've done it, I wasn't trying hard fishing1.gif , but most of the time that I waisted was on developing my charactor.
Asarnil2005-07-26 05:44:37
The thing about Magnagora, is you learn a lot about the city, just by doing the quests around it, from the skeleton game in Angkrag and doing the small village quests and then graduating to bashing spectres at L20+. I am not saying you should forget attempting to RP, because then you might as well go play some horrible little circle mud, but I know I sure as hell was able to RP a lot as well as get past L60 before I left novicehood with little effort on my part.

What the feck?

Laneth isn't level 60 and he has been around since almost the beginning. I...really don't get this emphasis on levels and whatnot in a roleplaying game.
Daganev2005-07-26 06:43:21
Laneth also is not a magnagoran with 50,000 quests and exp gaining possiblities that the city requires to be done.

Mmm true. I guess that's a difference between organisations .

I'm sure Laneth has done the pixies right? Kinda a expected thing there.

Spectres are the ones for Magnagora..and you can get awesome xp from them at level 65. And do the tome at the same time.......If you can't get level 60+ as a novice you really aren't trying in Magnagora. Not even forgetting roleplaying...level 60 is seriously a snap there.

Yeah plenty of pixies, but they are very limited. Once X amount are returned (14, I think it was) you can't do it until more pop up. And considering everyone was doing pixies when Laneth was a Novice, its a bit difficult to make it of any use.

Level 60 is really high. My character was still under 20 when she graduated. I'm not really a basher. I tried to get involved in RP and explore. Also, I would try the major honors quests but unfortunately, someone else would complete it while I was still trying to figure it out. Both of those things really rack up a few hours.

Hey, why are you implying that Magnagora is free of RP? tongue.gif

About deleting inactive characters, total gameplay time would make a nice condition for whether the character should be wiped out or not, in conjunction with level.

IMPLYING? That was a sledge-hammer to the face.

And it isn't. No worries.

i've seen novices who sit and try to figure out honor's quests in like estelbar or acknor get up to level 40+ within the first two days of there novice hood, if i really wanted i am 100% sure i could get a novice to level 60 in 3 days without the help of anyone.

I'm pretty sure that in my whole time being in Lusternia I haven't seen any sort of character purge, hell I get spammed to death by doing CITIZENS DORMANT. It seems to have exactly the same names on that it had a few months ago.

Lets look at my first protege.

3054h, 5484m, 4872e, 6p, 14170en, 26320w esSix-guild status harbing
He has approximately 23 hours and 51 minutes of online experience left before
graduating from novicehood.
3054h, 5484m, 4872e, 6p, 14170en, 26320w esSix-guild lastlogin harbing
Last login was 153 days ago.

How long does it take to purge these characters?

He's a freshman novice, so unless he bought credits in the first 9 minutes of existance... huh.gif
Hajamin2005-07-27 02:29:21
He probably registered, that extends the time quite a bit. Those that haven't registered should get deleted pretty quickly.
