Ok so I'm putting this up here because I think one of the biggest problems on Lusternia right now is people not willing to RP anything out. If something goes wrong they immediatly run here and make a topic on it and spend the next week going on and on about how screwed up this whatever is. I think it would be greatly beneficial to the MUD as a whole if people were forced to find more IC solutions to things rather than just deciding its defunct OOCly and addressing it only and entirely OOCly. I'm not going to name names or point fingers or accuse or anything like that.. I just want to know what people think. I'm really in favour of this and some others I know are too.

Added the "other" option.

I think that the forums don't nessecarily need to be closed, but all they seem to be is an idea and whining center. People here tend to be good at both.

Ideas here have gotten put in, and whining irritates people. So how do we fix it?

No idea. That's why I don't run a MUD. happy.gif

Voted "Other" as well... I don't feel as if the forums need to be closed down, but something probably should be done.

I know this has been mentioned before, and I'm all for the idea still... but maybe a forum dedicated to roleplaying ideas and setting up situations would help to create more roleplay in the game. It could be used for the idea people to bring forth some possible solutions, and it could also encourage someone to step forth here and say, "I'll go ahead and take responsibility for directing thisandthis for my organization."

Just an idea though!

Voted "Other", which is, most of all: Get rid of sections "General" and "Idiots". That should be a start. And, people who drag whining into other categories need to die, obviously. mf_swordfight.gif

And: Give us the Roleplaying category. Please please please. This is, after all, a forum concerning a RPG

I apologize for being a tad vitriolic here, but isn't the posting of this topic somewhat ironic? Maybe stop whining about the forums holding you back, and start making your own RP? tongue.gif

Seriously though, I personally think the problem is that because of the intense conflict-driven world that Lusternia is, many players are unable to come to this ooc place and stop thinking of the other players in terms of 'Magnagoran', 'Celestian', 'Glomdoring' or 'Serenwilde'. The forum setup itself is fine, we've just got to learn to take that conflict back in game - a lot of those who can transcend game prejudice do use these boards in constructive ways. Take a look at ideas or creative arts.

The irony. The title of this thread and the poster herself. Teehee.

I voted other, but I really don't care. The forums are popular and I'm sure that the admin don't mind that.

excl.gif I didn't even read Elryn's post before I posted.

Ack. Heh
Asarnil2005-07-30 12:42:01
Whats the point? If the forums are closed, people will just take their whining to one of the other thousand mediums available for players to talk in an OOC setting.
Richter2005-07-30 13:05:52
Just that it wouldn't be all of them at once on the official forums.

And although Syrienne does whine in game, I don't know her ooc, so I'm going to have to assume she just made this poll to get a feel of how everyone... feels. *shrug*

I just wanted to see how people felt about the issue of people on a pretty constant basis never addressing issues ICly. I mean I'm sure majority of us have seen examples of this more than once, I know I could name a few but my goal here wasn't to flame people. I just think its a shame how often all issues pop up here instead of before the Council of the city or something like that. I would like to see more people come to their leaders with ideas on how to move ahead rather than asking EStarra to fix it.

There are things that cannot be addressed IC. Bug abuses for once, how am I going to tell someone IC that s/he is abusing a bug? Another major reason is that the admins have an easier time to read and see what the majority of the player base are feeling. I can't count the number of good changes that have resulted from people whining on the forums (ironically enough). Also the great ideas that have came from one person and revamped by constructive feedbacks to be implemented in-game are very useful.

Not to mention the public boards would be spammed to high hell with the same junk that finds its way here.
Gregori2005-07-31 14:24:52
The public boards, I assume you mean in game, should be used more. Easily 60% of what goes on here should be going on in game. I said it before, the forums are a place to come to say what your character cannot say for fear of repercussion. If I say it here, it is "ooc" therefore unusable in game. If I say it there, I have to answer for saying it.
