Hrm, all of my Lusternia information drifted away from my grasp. Might people be willing to share what they think are some good skills to learn in various skillsets that require under 50 lessons? Things like weaponprobe and body part damage. I just can't remember which skilltree and the amount of lessons to obtain each.

Diagnose and Wounds in Discernment.
Teleport's a bit far in for what your asking, but Rifts in range.
Clot, Insomnia in Discipline
Squint in Environment.
Hell, I can't even remember the other common skills, but I remember the starting combat basics. (Ish)

Might you knwo the lesson count for the really early on one? Like wounds (not body part damage, sorry, was thinking of an IRE help file) and whatnot.

Hate to say it, but create a few alt's in the different guilds, and compare their recommended starting lessons for what skills for what abilities. Should be able to guestimate from there.

You know what is funny? I found out that you gain more exerience as per skill rank if you spend 15 lessons rather than doing 1 at a time. But you could do the 15, and then use this equation to figure out how far you had gone per lesson and thus figure out how many to use to reach the next level, etc:

x/y=z/100

Wherein x is the amount of lessons used, z is the percentage (of 100, hence per+cent) that the lesson provider of the lessons tells you (such as Eurytus, Meleris, or Eluzmith), and y would tell you the total amount you needed per level. Simple algebraic equation. If you don't know how to work it out, you multiply x by 100.

If x = 15, then x(100)=1500.

Then, divide by z.

If SoAndSo tells you, "You appear to be 50% of the way to the next level in Knighthood," then z=50 and 1500/50=30.

Thus it would take you 15 more lessons to get to the next level. Good luck with all that. I think it would be easier to ask a God or someone who has access to the codes to find out the exact lessons required per skill rank. Saves you the time of doing it yourself and doesn't detract from using your main character and cracks down on useless alternate accounts.

THat's too much maths for this fairy at midnight.

I'm not sure what you mean to be saying (the grammar problems make it hard to be precise), but to be clear, LEARN 15 WHATEVER FROM WHOMEVER does not get you any more or less close to your next skill rank than 15 times LEARN 1 WHATEVER FROM WHOMEVER. It's exactly the same.
Ashteru2005-08-20 17:41:35
Are you sure? I heard at mythical, it's pointless to learn less than 5 lessons, because it will be rounded off or something.
Gwylifar2005-08-20 22:18:20
You might not see the gain, but it's there. That's the problem, just as with experience, you can't see it because you never see the real numbers.

Roark gave us the exact numbers at some point. The variable that tracks the number of lessons invested actually goes up to 4000 or 6000, I forget which. It doesn't take that many lessons to actually learn a new skill.

So, no, rounding will not affect you adversely.

Archthron2005-08-21 20:27:04
Isn't perceive early in environment too? That's useful if you want to know who's demesne is attacking you.
Unknown2005-08-21 22:35:51
You have gained the following abilities in Environment:
Treading Swim in one place without drowning. 60 lessons
perceive is next..

I bet its 90 lessons for it.. (or 89)
